MISSION CONTROL - Hum Articles HUM Jeff Dimpsey, matt Talbott, Tim Lash, Bryan St. Pere. discography, on 120 Minutes with superVJ matt pinfield dressed like a rabbit and a chicken, http://www.h-u-m.net/articles/lashinterview.shtml
Extractions: Interview With Tim Lash by Andrew Kirkpatrick The Arcade spoke to guitarist Tim Lash by phone from New Jersey. Arcade: How's the tour going so far? Tim: It's great. We've had a lot of sold-out shows and we're playing really well together. Do you guys enjoy touring, or do you prefer the studio life more? I enjoy recording more. I enjoy writing songs in our basement more than anything. I mean, it's hard to be creative when you're on tour. Recording, I like that a lot better. It's just a lot more room to stretch out and be submerged in the creative atmosphere for days on end, you know. How are your touring partners? We've got Swervedriver and Heroic Doces, from Chicago ... Both bands are amazing, and we rarely play with bands I actually enjoy as much as these guys. It's nice to be inspired right before you play, and both these bands are amazing. Everybody's great. We all get along pretty well. Now, you all are from Champaign, IL. Do you find it easier or harder coming up through a college town like that as opposed to someplace like New York or L.A.? How did you guys arrive at the name Hum?

To make a long story short, the promise of the new Cerebrus-oriented MTV2 fell well short of expectations. Much like the so-called "risky" Super Bowl ads this year, the new MTV2 is little more than a repackaging of the MTV line-up, colored with unskilled hands using dull crayons and fobbed off as new. In fact, if anything, the network now falls closer to its big brother's model, inundating viewers with Lil' Jon-produced hip-hop abominations and Three Doors Down videos that would make even the most religious aesthete lose his or her belief in God.
Van Halen News Desk - Live Review: May 22, 1998 Then matt pinfield from MTV came on stage, to say some things, This was followed by a surprise appearance by matt pinfield from MTV. http://www.vhnd.com/98tour/980522.html
Extractions: AWESOME!!!! Van Halen played at the Garden last night and it was easily the best concert I have ever seen. I saw Van Halen two times with Sammy, but to hear Gary and the guys doing tunes off the very first album was truly an experience I don't think I'll ever forget. The light show was great! All four guys were having a great time. You could just tell they loved what they were doing. Alex's drum solo was incredible. If you are a Van Halen fan, this concert tour is one you cannot afford to miss. "Feel Your Love Tonight" was the best song for me. And then to end with, "I'm the One" was so incredible. Mike Anthony on lead vocals for was also unforgettable!! It was great night!!! Thanks to Van Halen for being the Greatest Show On Earth!!! Review by Johnathan Dinan - MeWisMagic@AOL.com This was my first concert ever, and as a big Van Halen fan of all eras, I was BLOWN AWAY! Having lived in New York City my whole life, as well as having been to the Garden many times, I have NEVER seen MSG this packed and full of energy! They nailed every single song, especially Mean Street. Hearing Somebody Get Me A Doctor, I'm The One and Feel Your Love Tonight was so refreshing, and Gary sang them beautifully.
Music Head: Brand New Interview Ive hung out with matt pinfield like five or six times in the last two weeks and thats cool. We were hanging out with him in the city and I was talking to http://www.musichead.org/interviews/bn/bn.htm
Extractions: HEAD 2 HEAD WITH BRAND NEW Your Favorite Weapon and several new songs, as little kids wearing Brand New T-shirts and record label executives loomed in the back. After the show the members of Brand New met with their fans outside. Once the fans had all dispersed we walked downstairs with Jesse and discussed sushi, record labels, the new album and success. Music Head (MH): Whats going on? What have you been up to? Jesse Lacey (JL): Mostly touring I guess. We just got done recording the record and we were over in England with Finch for a while. We got a week off before we started this tour. This is really our first full-on headlining tour and its sold out; its sold out like every night. Were so excited about it. MH: Hows the sushi here? JL: It was actually really good. We went to this totally posh place. We walked in. We (had) just woken up in the van. We were all raggedy and everyone was all good looking and like staring at us like, Who are these little punks coming into the sushi restaurant?' We like to dine sushi all over the country, so that restaurants pretty good, I gotta say. MH: I heard you guys had a meeting with a label today. Is that true?

Extractions: By Gary Susman NEW YORK It wouldn't be hard to make fun of MTV VJ Matt Pinfield. His appearance (short, bald, likened even by his fans to Uncle Fester), his gravelly voice, his awkward hand gestures, his endless flow of obscure trivia all make him a rarity, not just on MTV but on television in general. So when the Bloodhound Gang parodied him last year in their video "Firewater Burn," he could easily have been offended. He wasn't. "I loved it actually," he admits from behind a desk at MTV's new Times Square headquarters. "I was sitting at a pizza parlor in New York City when [Bloodhound Gang lead singer] Jimmy Pop Ali handed me his demo. He told me he did an imitation of me. He started doing it in the pizza parlor, doing the Pixies' family tree. I was rolling on the floor, it was so funny. So when the video came in to MTV, I was almost anticipating a parody. He really got me down. He went to all the trouble of getting a bald cap. He was doing my nervous hand movements. I thought it was great. The sincerest form of flattery." In fact, Pinfield's shtick is so popular, he's now on the air often enough that they could rename the channel MattTV. Best known for interviewing bands as the host of the weekly alternative-rock showcase

The track appears on the film's original soundtrack. In the Allan Moyle movie Empire Records (1995), at the end two of the people (I can't remember their names) were talking about how Pixies had one of the best bass lines. I thought that rocked. (reported by Jason Ronbeck) A French movie called Albert Souffre Bruno Nuytten , 1992) had its whole score made of Pixies songs. This soundtrack was never released as a record. The Pixies song La La Love You was the music used to play out the film Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me Joel Hirshman , 1992) and there may even have been another song played during the film, but I can't remember. There weren't any other Subba bands on the soundtrack, but there were songs by bands like Pavement and Violent Femmes, so the Pixies kind fitted into the scheme of things quite nicely. La La Love You can be heard in the trailer for Woody Allen movie Deconstructing Harry . However, the song cannot be heard in the movie itself.

Kevin had a rough day yesterday topped off by Pugs' dog Blue eating all of his dinner. Kelly wonders how Pugs and Kevin can even talk anymore. Pugs says that it's easy now that Kevin is moving. Its cool to be into radio. It's cool to cut wise about it. But don't overstep your boundaries. It sickens me to know that there was somebody stupid enough to try to start crap with Kevin in a parking lot. Kevin, good for you for laying him out. Yes, when you listen to talk radio for a while you feel like you become apart of somebody's life, especially with P and K because they are so open about their lives.... but come on people, respect them enough and show enough class to be cool.... cool bird... play it cool.... You may feel like you know these people but these people don't know you. ummm I had a point I think... whatever, I give up. Kelly is mad. Kelly is upset at Josh Cooperman... again....Josh is on the phone and Pugs explains that everyone has a Josh Cooperman in their office, the guy that runs the NCAA tourney bets. Cody reads off everyone's standings in the tournament... Cody= 11-5 Kent = 12-4, Eric = 13-3, Pugs = 14-2.... Josh and Pugs discussed their need to get more chicks involved because..."umm is Kelly still there?"... we need more women to make the pot bigger and then lose. Kelly is mad. Kelly wants to call Josh's wife and tell her about his woman hating ways. Kelly doesn't want to be involved in any thing that has Josh-funk all over it. Kelly thinks that somebody needs to remind Josh that he's Jewish... whoa.... Kelly is mad. A different Josh calls in to tell Kelly to learn her place and to never speak when another man is speaking. Pugs suggest Josh and Kelly get into a one on one match up at dodgeball. Pugs thinks that Kelly would absolutely kill Josh. The match is made... LETS GET IT ON!

Extractions: November 17, 1996 Matt Pinfield here with D'Arcy and James of Smashing Pumpkins. Glad to have you here today. We are talking about the Scratchie Record label, the new record label that you have. And you've had it for about a year and a half, two years now. And how exactly do you form a label? D'Arcy: About a year and a half, two years ago. MP: So I was pretty correct then. D'Arcy: Yeah James: Right on the money. MP: Now how is Kerry involved, your husband, who is in the band "Catherine" is on the label as well. D'Arcy: He does a lot of the producing for some of the bands. James and I also try to involve our self. Not producing, i'm sorry, It's in the recording like the technical things, the engineering specifically. James: Yeah, he worked on one of the bands Fulflej. Which is coming out or which is out right now. MP: Yeah, nothing but good things, people are reacting now. Now, you were involved in this video and song "Four-Leaf Clover" which you do some vocals on. This is a really cool song. It's got this early 80s-70s feel to it. D'Arcy and James: Yeah MP: I really like it a lot, it's really cool. How did you start to get involved? Is it something Kerry said 'Hey lets do something together, I know Billy produced the first EP.
