The first charity auction, Bridging The Knight , was held in San Ramon, California January 17-19, 1997 for the fans of the syndicated television series Forever Knight and raised U.S. $48,000 for Casey House (an AIDS hospice) and the Canadian Diabetes Association. This event was sponsored by the various Forever Knight affiliated fan clubs and made possible by the generous donations from Nicolas Gray, producer for Forever Knight , and the show's actors and crew. Celebrities participating in this event were: Nigel Bennett, John Kapelos, Natsuko Ohama, Jon Cassar, Gary Rieck, Gillian Horvath, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and P.N. 'Pat' Elrod. From this event, the participating actors, directors and writers joined together to form the Motion Picture Industry Charitable Alliance The Charities CASEY HOUSE HOSPICE Casey House opened its doors in March of 1988 to provide compassionate palliative care to people living with AIDS. In 1993, this mandate was broadened by the introduction of the Home Hospice Program - a community outreach service which provides 24-hour medical support care to people with AIDS who wish to remain in their own homes, or are awaiting a bed at Casey House. To date, more than 850 men and women have received care through Casey House programs, accounting for 21% of all reported AIDS-related deaths in Ontario.

It is the social voyeurism of the latter, affirmative sort that sustains the oppositional vision that imbues the best in artistic creation. The constricted, almost exclusively White pictorial world shown by Omori and Tajiri is emblematic of the situation that my students face. The reticence and general unease with which the students greeted my questions spoke volumes about a fundamental self-alienation that has its material source in a sex/race/power regime so total in scope and depth that it reaches into the unconscious, shaping the stuff of the erotic imagination. It is out of this classroom experience that I began thinking about ways to destabilize the hegemonic system of sex/race/power, wherein the denial of unalloyed sexual desire and carnal pleasure to Yellow people is coextensive with their social subordination.
