With business logic encapsulated in Struts Actions, the presentation tier must interact through the Servlet based front-controller, passing the required form data to an appropriately mapped Action (which is the same as a Command in the command pattern). While allowing the rapid development of JSP front-ends, it does impose an HTTP request/response paradigm upon any other presentation tier technologies.

Extractions: What's New - Photos 2004 The annual Postgraduate Research Conference for 2004 was held on Saturday 11 December 2004 with an attendance of approximately 100 staff and students and over 40 presenters. All of the feedback has been positive and we look forward to another great conference in 2005. There was a tremendous energy accompanying all aspects of the conference and attendees clearly enjoyed the opportunity to network and discuss ideas over breaks and lunch. Discussions did not stop at the end of the conference and many delegates were spotted chatting and swapping contact details after the event. The keynote address given by the Director, Centre for Post-Compulsory Education and Lifelong learning (Department of Education Policy and Management), Professor Richard Teese lent his considerable expertise to the discussion and we thank him for the time and thought he devoted to his presentation. The parallel sessions ran smoothly and allowed a depth of discussion in specialised areas. Thanks to all of the presenters, Chairs, Professor Bridie Raban and Anna Ng for their splendid organisation.
