Extractions: Our Heraldic Device and Gavel The Birth of the Society By tradition, new organizations in Ottawa are conceived in smoke-filled back rooms. The association about to be described was therefore a radical break from tradition. For many years, efforts in Canada to make science work for society through providing back-up support for law enforcement were carried out in almost independent isolation. It is doubtful, for example, if the forensic contributions of the late Dr. E. Gordon Young, professor of biochemistry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, were known to his counterparts engaged in similar activities in Toronto. Perhaps this was largely because communication was confined to news media and the occasional article in a popular magazine. In 1953, Inspector James A. Churchman, a firearms identification expert with the RCMP who had then recently become head of their modest forensic laboratory in Ottawa and Dr. Charles G. Farmilo, a chemist with the Department of National Health and Welfare in Ottawa, who was interested in alkaloids and other drugs, concluded that forensic science in Canada could be much more useful if involved individuals could get to know each other personally and exchange experiences. Through their efforts, on that sunny day, October 16, 1953, seventeen interested people gathered in Room 2121 in the N.R.C. building, 100 Sussex Drive.
Extractions: My specialty is the purchase and sale of quality residential, commercial and investment properties. I first received my Real Estate License in 1979, when I decided to purchase my very first home and wanted to know about different types of construction, mortgages and all of the responsibilities of a home owner. Although I have been involved in many other business areas since that time, my appreciation for the value of land, my keen eye for a 'good one', my love for negotiating and helping people has pulled me back to what I want to do most - help you!!! I believe what really sets me apart is my patience, a respect for and an understanding of my clients' needs, and my honest forthright approach. It would be my pleasure to assist with the sale of your property or to help you find the home of your dreams. For more info or property listings visit the following web links

Extractions: COLUMBIA Coach Steve Spurrier's decision to go ahead and name his starting quarterback just three days into fall camp caught the recipient, Blake Mitchell , by surprise. "Something I wasn't expecting to hear this early in camp, but I came out here every day, worked hard and gave it my best, and I just thank coach for giving me the opportunity," Mitchell said after practice Thursday. "He said it at a team meeting. All the guys gave me a round of applause. I was excited, but I just sat there." Mitchell is the only one of South Carolina's five quarterbacks that has thrown a pass in a varsity game, completing 9-of-22 throws for 86 yards last season with a touchdown and three interceptions. His one TD was to Andy Boyd in a loss to Ole Miss last season but he logged significant time during a win over Kentucky after starter Syvelle Newton was injured.
