Wayne, born Dec. 10 in Canada, was brought up in the States with his two brothers and two sisters. Although his first ambition was to become a professional baseballer he moved west to Los Angeles - and studied psychology instead! Acting, however, dragged him back to New York, and it was here he was eventually discovered. After a starring role in "Custer," he got a guest appearance in "The Monroes" where he acquired the nickname "Duke" - after the character he portrayed - by which he's been known ever since. Then he 'rested': so much so that when he was offered the part in "Lancer" he'd just broken a toe, was in the process of having his phone disconnected- and was behind in his rent!

Their boss, Capt. Parmalee didn't always find their antics so funny.
