Chill Pak : Cool It Down. Speed It Up. dean haglund When I was a kid, my dad refused to turn up the heat on the coldest of nights because any use of natural gas was an affront to his wallet. http://www.chillpak.com/
Extractions: Add to cart How the Chill Pak works When I was a kid, my dad refused to turn up the heat on the coldest of nights because any use of natural gas was an affront to his wallet. But, to make us think differently about the cold, he would say: "cold is only an absence of heat." If you place your hand under even the best notebook you will feel heat. This is caused by the Computer Processing Unit (CPU) that moves huge amounts of information at high speeds. If you could see on a microscopic level, you would notice that this information is actually millions of tiny electrons racing along their silicon roads. Similar to how you car's tires heat up as you drive along the highway, electrons heat up as they travel along their roadways due to friction. On your computer this translates to a hot notebook. "But what is wrong with a little heat in my notebook?" you ask. The problem is that when electrons heat up, they get agitated. Instead of moving forward they move in random directions. The result is less electrons telling your computer what to do. And a slower computer for you. Sometimes so little information gets through, that in the confusion your computer simply stops working. Here's where Chill Pak come to the rescue. Chill Pak draws heat away from your computer stopping the agitation of electrons. This allows the electrons to travel down the circuits in an orderly fashion. The information gets through and you get to keep working on your happy chilled-out notebook.

Extractions: By Margaret Moser Mueller Airport, Wednesday, April 7 Dutifully donating the can of tuna that was my invitation to the BS4 "Media Mixer" at the Paramount Theatre, I searched furtively for actor-comic Dean Haglund. I was pretending to look for my pal Weezer, who hadn't arrived, but was really trying to see if Haglund, host of Thursday's gala show for BS4, was in sight. Alas, festival publicist Jennifer Hill apologized to me, his plane was late and he would not arrive until the evening, but the MAD TV people were upstairs with the food spread. Her dilemma reminded me of my mid-Eighties job at the Comedy Workshop, working with then-rising comics like Bill Hicks, Sam Kinison, and Dennis Miller. Often, that meant picking them up at the airport, checking them into hotels, going out to dinner or on an informal tour of the town, or sometimes all of the above. It was the best part of the job; it even had a title: celebrity liaison. At an event like BS4, such a job can be hellacious. "Say," I ventured shamelessly, "who's picking Haglund up at the airport?" Within minutes, I was back downstairs and greeting Weezer. "Guess what we're doing tonight? We're picking up Langley." Weezer was thrilled, since Haglund plays the hip one of the three conspiracy computer dweebs known as the Lone Gunmen on The X-Files , the show that is our absolute favorite.

Extractions: His parents, he jokes, always wondered why he went into acting, " when I had such a burgeoning animation career." Though he has done cartooning and even played in a rock band ("We were terrible!" he admits), he always returned to his first love the stage. And the rest, as they say, is history the history of a hacker-dude named Ringo Langly. Haglund, who in real life is the most tech savvy of the Lone Gunmen actors, says that while he can't hack his way into top-level security systems, he does have a good basic knowledge of computers and often has friends call him to help fix their systems. The difference between him and Langly, he says, is that Langly, "... has that really cool software where he can just sit around reading books and drinking Tab while it works!" When he has the time (and he hasnt had much time lately), Haglund enjoys working on his computer. And yes, he says he IS a Ramones fan.

Extractions: X-Files Improv with Dean Haglund Available for UK touring in 2008 Dean Haglund played computer geek Langly for nine seasons of cult sci-fi series The X-Files. In this new show premiered to great acclaim at the Edinburgh festival 2007, Haglund improvises a new X-Files episode at each performance, using audience suggestions. The resulting mayhem will delight fans of the long-running series and those who've never seen a single episode alike. Haglund's improvisational skills were honed alongside stars of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and his ability to spin hilarious scenarios from the simplest of ideas never fails to entertain. 'Stupidly funny. Haglund's amiable quick wit making this a must for fans and good clean fun for everybody else.' **** The List 'Haglund works with the audience to delicious advantage, with tremendous speed and goodwill.' **** The Scotsman 'Irresistibly ridiculous' The Guardian 'It might be nearly six years since Mulder and Scully were last in action but the sci-fi phenomenon that was The X-Files will not die. A new movie is due for release this summer, and for fans who cannot wait - and have a sense of humour - this live, improvised solo comic version starring cast member Dean Haglund plugs the gap. Last night - and probably every night in different ways - the emphasis was on pure silliness. A giraffe-badger-monkey mutant was on a killing spree and had to be tracked down. Haglund enlisted the help of various fans to play his supporting cast and provide sound effects. Anyone who remembers Channel 4's pioneering Whose Line Is It Anyway? will immediately recognise the beautiful unpredictability of the format. The experienced star's slick professionalism held things together throughout, keeping spirits up with a combination of high-energy humour and gung-ho enthusiasm. Haglund left everyone wanting more.' Extractions: Canadian born actor/comic Dean Haglund was born on 29 July 1965, in Oak Bank, Manitoba, Canada. He began in stand-up comedy, and still performs at comedy clubs across North America. He is a member of the improv group Vancouver TheaterSports. He is probably most well known for his nine seasons playing Ringo Langly, one of the computer geeks known as "The Lone Gunmen" in The X-Files. Darren Rea caught up with him as season eight of The X-Files was due to be released on DVD... Darren Rea: What was it that attracted you to your role in The X-Files Dean Haglund: At the time it wasn't going to be a big part. During the first season it was a show that no one had really heard of and the Gunmen were just going to be in one episode only. So it seemed a nice way to do a day on a TV show you'd never heard of and go back to live theatre, stand-up comedy and all the things you were doing beforehand. There wasn't really a heart wrenching decision whether to do it or not. It was like: "Oh yes. Good. Oh, it's over. Off you go." In fact, that sentiment continued well into the third season. If you dig out your early DVDs, you'll notice that in every episode I'm wearing a different pair of glasses. The prop guy just kept throwing them back in the bag, and I couldn't remember what I'd worn in the episode before. We'd go: "Were these them?" [Laughs].
