Why in the world did they cancel that?) But VH1 has something Intervention doesn't Dr. Drew! If this review in Variety is right VH1 will surely have a hit on it's hands! "Riveting as a car wreck, 'Celebrity Rehab' is the logical extension of VH1's 'surreality' brand an assembly of TV-created celebrities willing to be debased under the patina of entertainment. Educational only in its unflinching images of drug withdrawal (there's vomiting aplenty), the show proves as pathetic as it is difficult to turn off, its celebrities leveraging their private suffering as a lifeline to public exposure. VH1 may have another success here, but let's not kid ourselves: If this works, the channel has simply demonstrated it's possible to have your cake and snort it, too."

Extractions: The man, for whom Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles is named, was a brilliant Black physician, famous for his pioneering work in blood preservation. Born in Washington, D.C. on June 3, 1904, his life ended in an auto accident just two months before his 46th birthday. The intervening years were crowded with achievements, learning and sharing his knowledge to benefit mankind. In 1926 he graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts, where his athletic prowess in track and football earned him the Mossman trophy as the man who contributed most to athletics for four years. Dr. Drew taught biology and served as coach at Morgan State College in Baltimore before entering McGill University School of Medicine. As a medical student, he became an Alpha Omega Alpha Scholar and won the J. Francis Fellowship, based on a competitive examination given annually to the top five students in the graduating class. In 1933, he received his M.D. degree. His first appointment at Howard University was as faculty instructor in pathology from 1935-36, and later as an instructor in surgery and an assistant at Freedmen's Hospital, a federally operated facility associated with Howard. In 1939, Dr. Drew married Lenora Robbins. They had four children: Bebe, Charlene, Rhea, and Charles. In 1944, he received the Spingarn Medal from the NAACP for his work on British and American Projects. Virginia State College conferred upon him an honorary Doctor of Science in 1945, and his alma mater Amherst conferred the same degree in 1947.

Although the doctor has never treated Spears personally, he told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday, "We are watching somebody who is following the Anna Nicole Smith blueprint to the letter. She's keeping people around her that allow her to keep using and that supports her denial. "She leaves the country, like Anna Nicole, she keeps using; she doesn't follow directions of people." Spears was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by paramedics Jan. 10, after police were called to her home because of a custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their two young sons. She checked herself out of the hospital two days later. According to Pinsky, California law does not force drug and alcohol users to remain in treatment long enough to get the help they need.

Extractions: After the fiasco with Flickr and trying to fight them, we quickly wanted another source to store and share our photos. We wanted a website that offered a client-uploader program [a program installed on your pc that allows you to log on to their server and directly upload photos without using an internet browser. Great for large amounts of files] so we could upload large photo albums at one time. Out of testing over a dozen sites, we choose Share-a-pic [SAP]. Another feature of SAP, is the monetary ad reward from views of your photos equaling a few coins [4,000 views=$1]. So we tried it out for a few weeks. What we learned from using SAP was the server speed for loading albums and individual photos for view was well below the web standards. With the client-uploader, the album must first be created on the website, before logging in with the client-uploader, which can be an inconvience. If you make a mistake uploading a batch of photos to the wrong album, you're screwed. You have no way of moving photos around the individual albums. You also can't rename the album. So you gotta delete them and re-upload them to the correct album. That really sux when you upload one album that contains more than 2,000+ photos, which we learned the hard way.
