Extractions: David Cross - OVERHYPED Filed under ENTERTAINMENT MOVIES TELEVISION CELEBRITY After months of telling everyone around me that David Cross has turned into a washed-up loser, Underhyped has decided that itâs finally time to seal the deal. And so, before you all start screaming about how great Arrested Development is, I just want you to relax, kick back, and have an open mind⦠about how David Cross is an asshole. The potential that David Cross is, in fact, an asshole has been floating around for several years now. In 2001, when Scary Movie 2 came out, I remember being whole-heartedly against it (because I had seen Scary Movie But my friends all said, â Yeah , but itâs got David Cross in it!â Meaning that I was supposed to think, âOh, really ! Neat-o, where can I throw away my money?â Then, if I had listened to them, I would start burning the meager $200 I had in my bank account in a show of how little I cared about getting any entertainment for my buck. I didnât watch the movie then, but I did watch it on DVD in 2003, and would you believe that it is a really shitty movie? And that David Crossâ presence did nothing to remedy this? I havenât wasted my time with Cross since, but countless throngs of Underhypedâs peers continue down this unnecessarily painful and economically-unsound path! Arrested Development is not a good television program. Itâs not fun to watch, and itâs not funny. David Cross as Tobias is not funny. The show is in the unique position of being: 1) not a reality tv show and 2) the only sitcom to boast David Cross, who for some reason lends instant credibility to anything he touches (see

His smart and fearless comedy style is marked by a simultaneous honesty and cynicism that kind of goes beyond satire to somewhere else. His solo work tends to focus on topics of religion, politics, and a total refusal to skirt around any issue. Characterized by his small frame, bald head, and black glasses, his major career accomplishment has been as one-half of the HBO series Mr. Show with Bob and David. However, his memorable bit parts (Donnie, the guy who repeatedly says "Chicken Pot Pie" on NBC's Just Shoot Me) tend to stick in the imagination of the larger public. Born in Atlanta, GA, he went to college in Boston and started doing stand-up comedy before moving out to Los Angeles. He met

"After the first season of Arrested Development and being out in L.A. and being away from my life [in New York] and my girlfriend and all that stuff, I was thinking if, in the almost impossible, implausible scenario that Arrested Development would ever get canceled, that I would like to come up with a show that I could work on that would allow me to work in New York. So I then eventually stumbled upon animation and then had the idea for it and asked Jon if he wanted to work on it with me."
