Extractions: In 1978 Roscoe Keeney of West Virginia published "2,597 KEENEY RELATIVES", focusing on the Moses Keeney (son of John, original Keeney settler in VA/WV) family from 1750. Five hundred copies were published and distributed and the material was out of date so no new printing was scheduled. Piles of additional material came in (from those who refused to respond when asked earlier), prompting the need for an organ to keep all these relatives up to date. In the eighteen years following UPDATE has spread in coverage to 45 states and numerous articles and family listings have been published, with authors mainly from Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and elsewhere. The issues have been financed by voluntary contributions from a couple of dozen appreciative family members. Every issue of KEENEY UPDATE has been sent to the KEENEY FAMILY WEBSITE, started and owned by Daniell Keeney. Items from KEENEY UPDATE may be reproduced and distributed, provided credit is given to KEENEY UPDATE, PO Box 5519, Charleston WV, with date of issue.) R. Keeney

Extractions: The following is the "index" to the family group sheets for the descendants of Paul Biffle I have included as much detail as I have through the 6th generation. After that, I have included names of descendants and spouses, but no links to completed group sheets. The 7th generation group sheets may have individuals on them who are still alive, and for privacy reasons I do not want to give detailed information on them. Otherwise, this list would be enormous! So, if you don't find the individual you are looking for, look for his or her parents and then send me the updated information. I don't guarantee accuracy of the information given or whether there is proof for every individual. If you find any errors, omissions, bad links or just typos, please contact me. As you can see, I have a lot of information on some families and very little on others. If you would like to share what you have, again, please contact me. Janet Roseen The camera symbol ( ) means there is a photograph associated with the individual or family. Click on the symbol to see the photograph. If you would like to include a photograph with your family's group sheet, please send it to me and I will add it to the file.

Extractions: The Iowa Authors Collection "In 1945 the University of Iowa Library entrusted to one of its long-time librarians, Grace Wormer, the task of forming a special collection of books written by Iowa authors," wrote Frank Paluka in Iowa Authors: A Bio-bibliography of Sixty Native Writers (Iowa City: Friends of the University of Iowa Libraries, 1967). "An Iowa author, for the purpose of this collection, was considered to be any writer born in the state or definitely associated with Iowa who had written at least one published book. For non-native writers, a definite association with the state was usually interpreted to mean a residence in Iowa of twenty years or more." By 1967, the collection included the work of more than 800 writers. A 1993 article in by Robert McCown in Books at Iowa gives more details on the history of the collection.
