Extractions: Site and contact information for MBONE tunnels adjacent to the NSFnet. Sites which do not connect directly to the NSFnet should seek advise from their network provider. For other sites NOT directly connected to NSFnet, follow this link for information. In general it is expected that each mid-level organizes its own internal connectivity. If you have changes, additions or corrections please send mail to the mbone mailing-list . Please include entire entries if possible. This information provided by Matt Mathis Important : Tunnel administration MUST follow the hierarchy of the Internet. If you want a tunnel, start by talking to your campus networking staff, who should talk to their regional service provider, who should talk to their ISP/NSP, etc. Please do not attempt to use a wide area tunnel to provide a private feed. Web-based Textbook Access to the online edition of NorthWestNet s Internet Passport was providedas part of the University s institutional membership in the Northwest http://www.faculty.uaf.edu/ffjal/papers/webnet/webnet.html
Extractions: ffjal@aurora.alaska.edu The paper describes the use of World Wide Web-based textbook for a required MBA course covering business information sources offered in the School of Management of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It raises theoretical questions about the which text models are most suitable for organization of such materials. Preliminary practical results are that students' reaction to the use of www-based materials is in part a function of currency, and in part a function of whether the materials were designed to take advantage of HTML, or whether they were simply translated from printed form. Preliminary theoretical results are that stream based and shallow hierarchical object based text models do not work well with the new medium. Unresolved questions revolve around which object model for hypertexts provides sufficient value to overcome the disadvantages of screen-based reading. Lisa M. Lehman is Assistant Professor of Information Science at Rasmuson Library, the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Fairbanks Alaska. Her AMLS is from the University of Michigan. She has had ten papers published, primarily on the use of technology in Information Science.
