Extractions: The Druid Path Book Recommendations Here's a list of some of the better books on Druidry and two books to definitely avoid. The two books at the bottom by Douglas Monroe are found in almost every bookstore and are very popular. However, they are very offensive. Be warned. Now on with the good books! Berresford Ellis, Peter The Druids Blamires, Steve Glamoury: Magic of the Celtic Green World ISBN: 1-56718-069-8 Fascinating book with sections on the major Celtic Gods and Goddesses. My favorite section, however, is the end of the book which focuses on the 4 Celtic fire festivals. Mr. Blamires details very elaborate rituals for each of these with extensive histories of each festival. Excellent! Can't believe it is a Llewellyn book! Even ADF recommends it.

Extractions: THE 26-HOUR REIGN OF MURDER AND TERROR How did Brian Nichols get the gun in the first place? He overpowered a 51-year-old female deputy sheriff. Alone she escorted him into a holding area where she took off his handcuffs so that he could change into street clothes for trial. There seem to be a lot of details out there on how Nichols overpowered the deputy sheriff and got her gun. That's because it was all caught on tape. You mean there's a video? Exactly. There was a surveillance camera in the holding area where the attack took place. Was someone supposed to be monitoring the camera?

His collection consists of an intriguing blend of pre-Christian and Christian prayers, blessings, magical invocations, and hymns. The lover of Gaelic tradition enters another world upon opening this book: a world long since passed from our seeing, but lovingly preserved according to the oral tradition of our forebears. These "charms of the Gaels" have been handed down through countless generations as precious, eternal testimony to the daily ritual of life in ancient Celt-dom. There are songs and prayers for rising each morning, for going to rest at night, charms and blessings for curing various health problems, homages to the sun, moon and stars, and praises to the land, sea and sky. Through these ancient and powerful songs, the Gaels gave constant witness to the living nature of God which surrounded them. These are their words, as they seek protection and blessing, healing and strength, comfort and community. Buy it now by Cairistiona Worthington Druid Renaissance today . 'Oh yes,' replied Lily, polishing a teaspoon before stirring it through gravy. 'I very nearly joined them too. I met a wonderful man named Philip Ross Nichols, sometime in the early 1970's. He was the Chosen Chief of the Order, and lived in a large Victorian house in the London W14 area. He was a small man, very elderly yet as agile as a little monkey. He wore delicate leather sandals and possessed the most exquisite feet I have ever seen!" "His feet? Never mind his feet," I laughed. "What was he like?"

Extractions: Red's style of playing cornet was greatly influenced by Bix Beidebecke , but he was a better overall musician and an excellent sight reader. Nichols learned to play music from his father, a college music teacher. After moving east from Utah he teamed up with a Midwestern band called The Syncopating Seven . After that band broke up he moved to New York in 1923. He soon teamed up with the trombonist Miff Mole and the two would go on to make a great many records together under a variety of names such as, Red Nichols and his Five Pennies Arkansas Travelers The Red Heads The Louisiana Rhythm Kings ... The Charleston Chasers and Miff Mole and his Little Molers . Usually these sessions featured the same or similar personnel. Red did a series of recordings for the Brunswick Record Company under the name of Red Nichols and his Five Pennies , although the bands were often quite a bit larger. These sessions at first featured trombonist Miff Mole and Jimmy Dorsey on alto and clarinet, and later in the decade featured a who's who of great White Jazz musicians, such as Benny Goodman , Glenn Miller, Jack Teagarden Pee Wee Russell Joe Venuti Eddie Lang ... Adrian Rollini and Gene Krupa among others. Red appeared on over 4000 records in the 1920s. Nichols survived the Depression by working in Broadway shows, even leading the pit orchestra for two of George Gershwin's shows; "Girl Crazy" and "Strike Up the Band". In 1934 Red fronted a band for the radio show sponsored by Kellogg's Cereal and led many studio orchestras including one for the Bob Hope Show. In 1959 Hollywood made a highly fictionalized picture of his life called "The Five Pennies", starring Danny Kaye as Red.
