This Is A List Of The Stones Still Visible In The Old St 18661923. 14E. wife of Daniel Carline who was a farmer in Potsdam in 1870 with 5 1 Day. these were all children of Michael and Mary Donoghue. Donoghue http://www.stlawrencecountycemeteries.org/Potsdam/stmaryoldcensus.htm
Extractions: Back In at least 25 cases, the year of death marked on a stone was one year off from that which was recorded in the parish register. Some of these discrepancies may have been due to transcription errors in the cemetery, but it is puzzling, at the very least, that each difference is off by exactly one year, and that it is always the last digit of the date The cemetery is at the corner of NY Route 56 and the Garfield Rd., with the Garfield Cemetery forming the eastern border and an empty field forms the northern line. There are 60 rows of graves, numbered starting from the Garfield Cemetery. There are 7 columns assigned letters A through G, with A being the most northerly one. A narrow driveway leads from the main entrance on Route 56 and enters the cemetery between columns C and D. This path is not completely straight and bends slightly to the north as it goes up the small hill towards the Garfield Cemetery There are virtually no trees or shrubs in the cemetery, but several large stumps attest that there were at one time. Most of the graves face Route 56, but a few face the opposite direction, and a very few face north. French surnames present an entirely different set of problems. French spelling and pronunciation is so different from English that many names are almost unrecognizable in the anglicized form. For example, Gearo is probably Giroux originally, and LaBaff and LaBoef are the same. Many times families would simply translate their name into English, so Desjardin became Gardiner. However they sometimes left off the prefix as the Irish did, so Oliver Graff was also known as Oliver LaGraff

Fauna Mihalko Genealogy Files Louis Jay Perkins (18661923), s/o Augustin Perkins Rhoda Marsh Wildman. Bacon Buxton Rebecca Parkhill * Edmund Buxton Harriet Larew * Moses http://myindianahome.net/gen/jeff/records/family/mihalko.html
Extractions: Fauna Mihalko Collection Fauna Mihalko, former genealogy librarian of the Madison Jefferson County Public Library, collected many useful and interesting records over the years until her health failed her. Fauna's family graciously donated her collection to the Jefferson County Historical Society. There, the records were organized into two categories: Genealogy and Subjects. With permission from the JCHS, I indexed the genealogy files and cross-referenced the file titles and placed them on this site for researchers. Note that some files have an outline description which I began to write for those specifying an interest in a certain file. I regret that I am unable to continue this service as we have moved from the area. Please contact the JCHS directly to obtain copies of files. There are many more names within the individual files which are not indexed here. Some title names are of the person submitting the information, not the family names in the file. Individual genealogy files contain various contents. Some files are correspondence between Fauna and family genealogists, other files contain newspaper articles on individuals and / or families; and still other files are quite extensive -as are the Ryker and Lee files. I wish to thank Fauna Mihalko and her family, as well as the Jefferson County Historical Society for preserving this body of work for future genealogists.

Extractions: Our notes of individuals are set out, as in other groups, in alphabetical and date sequence. Alexander is a fine choice to start with. He sounds like a rogue! He was born in New Milford, Conn, and married Lucinda Evans, who was 2 years younger than him. They had six children. Henry Anthon Bostwick reports, curtly, in his book: "He left home with a cargo of lumber and was never heard from." That is all we know! Was he by trade a lumber merchant, a carrier and warehouseman, or just a thief? Between 1810 and 1821 Lucinda bore him six girls. Was that his problem? Could he face no more? The New York Times on 28th February 1935 reported his death at his home in New Milford. He had been born in New York City. He was a Past President of Litchfield County Medical Association, and Vice-President and Director of New Milford Savings Bank. He was a Freemason and a member of the Racebrook Country Club of New York. Mrs. Blanche Donnelly Page

Quotes of the moment: On July 25, 2005, the opening day for the AFL-CIO convention in Chicago, The Teamsters and SEIU announced that they were leaving the AFL-CIO because that organization has refused to commit to organizing unorganized workers. In 1955, when the AFL and CIO merged, one in three workers was a Union worker. Today, that number is one in ten. Our goal is not to divide the labor movement but to rebuild it.
