Vitamins And Minerals-Sci Tracer Bullet-Lib Of Congress) Edited by Mary Frances Picciano, EL Robert Stokstad, and Jesse F. Gregory. Kaye, Edita M. Bone builders the complete lowfat cookbook plus calcium http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/tracer-bullets/vitaminstb.html
Extractions: SCOPE Vitamins and minerals are an important component of human nutrition. Although vitamins were not discovered until the early part of the 20 th century, the effects of deficiencies were recognized much earlier in diseases such as scurvy and rickets. In 1753, Dr. James Lind published his Treatise on Scurvy , which is generally recognized as the first controlled clinical trial in medical nutritional research. Dr. Lind's study demonstrated that scurvy could be controlled by adding lemons to the diet of British sailors whose rations contained no fresh fruits or vegetables. In effect, the trial demonstrated that Vitamin C could prevent scurvy, although this vitamin was not actually identified until 1928.

Some information that was not included in Gerald Scott's listing has been added by family members and has been so noted where this is done. I'm guessing that this was compiled about 1968, as that is the latest burial date in Mr. Scott's information. I am having an extremely tough time going further back than I have because of lack of records (Sherman burnt Chesterfield and the 1890 census burning has caused me problems because of when my Bones were born), or I am just not looking in the right place. It is more than likely for both reasons. They fit no where that I can find with all of the above Bone/Boan families of Chesterfield and surrounding countiesunless I have them in the below Modified Registers. My Bone/Boan families are of Chesterfield County, SC. Here are my Bone families. (You will see that the spelling started out as Bone and just after the Civil War (1870 census) it changed to Boan (for the most part) and then somewhere before or during the 1880 census it changed to Bowen (for the most part) and then back to Boan in the census’ there after. I did not show the change to Bowen in my modified register charts.) I have two direct branches. You will see a bit of repetitiveness in the below charts because of the inter-family marriages. I am a granddaughter of Amie Boan and Henry James Poston, Sr.
