Henry Rayburn And Robert Love Charles Rayburn. Born on 18 Oct 1784 in Greenbrier County, Virginia. Bernard Rayburn. Born on 2 May 1905. Bernard died on 21 Jun 1986; he was 81. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/3443/genealogy_love.html
Extractions: Two of my Revolutionary War ancestors were Henry Rayburn and Robert Love. Both settled in Mason County, West Virginia. Many of their descendants continue to live within just a few miles from where their ancestors settled. I have been able to trace the Rayburn (Reaburn) name farther than the name Love which explains why this page begins with Rayaburn. My Robert Love ancestor begins with Nancy Rayburn who is number 15. The product that follows was produced on a Macintosh G4 running Reunion 7.02. The specific format is called Register Report . I personally like this format because it is easy for me to follow my lineage from top to bottom. There is an index at the bottom of the page. Here's how you use this format: As each child is added to a family, the computer assigns a new number to that individual. To find that individual's family, scroll down the document until that number reappears. I have attempted to provide the most accurate data possible. However, much of my information was provided by people just like you, so I can't verify accuracy of everything. I would advise you to use this information as a starting point from which you can do your own research. The report contains eight generations in an attempt to not list persons who are currently living in order to protect their privacy. If the birth date of a person is in the computer, I have programmed it to not print out information on persons born after 1920. However, if information is noted on someone who does not want their data contained herein, please advise me.

Extractions: BAYOU PUERTO: A pre-Gulf Hills Chronology Bayou Puerto is the ancestral name for the area that most of us refer to today as Gulf Hills. This small, isolated, primarily Roman Catholic settlement came into existence in the mid-19 th Century, and encompassed for the most part the S/2 of Section 12, all of Section 13, the E/2 of Section 14, and the NE/4 of Section 24 all of T7S-R9W, Jackson County, Mississippi. The terrain in the Bayou Puerto region is relatively high considering its propinquity to the Gulf of Mexico. Elevations range from twenty-five above mean sea level to sea level. The area of interest lies south of the Big Ridge escarpment on the western terminus of an east-west striking coastal ridge, which is sub-parallel to the Big Ridge. Here small bayous and streams have dissected the topography with steep ravines to create a "hilly" terrain. Reconnaissance, surface, geologic investigations indicate that alluvial-fluvial deposits of the Late Pleistocene Prairie "formation" are exposed in the higher areas of the Bayou Puerto-Gulf Hills section. (Otvos, 1972, pp. 223-224) There are five soil types in the Bayou Puerto region: Norfolk fine, sandy loam of the Flatwoods phase; Scranton very fine sandy loam; Plummer fine sandy loam; Ruston fine sandy loam; and tidal marsh. The Flatwoods phase of the Norfolk fine, sandy loam is the predominant soil in the area. It is one of the best soils in the uplands along the coastal plains and is suited for most crops. It is an excellent soil for slash and longleaf pines and because of its location is used primarily for vegetables and pecans. (Elwell et al, 1927, pp. 15-16)

Bewley was elected the permanent Captain after a shakedown period of several days. Included in the party were the Isaac Bewley family, the Prettymans, the Youngs, and the Victor Wallace family. Several days out of Independence they were joined by a train of 35 wagons from Oskaloosa and a party of American Fur Company trappers bound for the Lakes. Five months and three days after leaving Independence they had their first view of the Columbia. On Oct 10, 1847 they camped at the mouth of the Umatilla and the next morning the party began to separate and follow different paths. Some of the members of the train chose to go to the Whitman Mission where they became embroiled in the Whitman Massacre [follow the links under Missionaries to learn more about this event]
