The geezer (age 63) was awarded an NIH R21 grant for to study gene expression in wounds on the Duroc pig. The hypothesis is that the "cause" of hypertrophic scarring occurs within 2 or 3 months of wounding and that the cones of skin are somehow involved in the process. The wounds will be studied with the new porcine microarray available from Affymetrix. Drs. Gibran and Isik are significantly involved. Upward and onward to the Nobel prize :)
