He was born in OH, probably in Jefferson Co. where his parents owned a farm of 200 acres. While Benjamin was a lad, the family moved to Fayette Co. OH, where he attended the subscription schools of the neighborhood and attained a basic education in the "three R's". Upon attaining manhood, he sought the hand of Margaret RILEY and they were married in Fayette Co. OH. For 12 years after their marriage Benjamin rented and worked tracts of land. It was hard to get ahead, so they decided to go west to seek better opportunities. He made a trip to IN in 1834, traveling most of the journey on horseback, and learned that he could greatly better his condition there. So, in the Fall of 1836, he placed his family into covered wagons and moved to Kosciusko Co. IN. He then received from the government title to a half section of the best land that he could find, in what is now Franklin and Harrison Twps. He was probably the first settler in Franklin Twp. Here they carved a life out of the wilderness and Benjamin later served his county in the State Legislature (ca1851). He was a member of the Democratic Party. Benjamin and Margaret died in Kosciusko Co. IN and are buried at Mentone Cemetery. Census records indicate that Benjamin and Margaret

He settled in Berks Co, PA in the Richmond Township. Tax lists and militia muster rolls show Christian owned properties in Berks Co. and Northampton Co., PA. Christian Schick and Rosina (?-aft. 1824) [surname unknown] were the parents of eight known children. Christian and his family moved to NC in the 1770's, following the Heidelberg Settlement from PA. Christian's name is among those listed on some of the orginial minutes of the Heidelberg Evangelical Lutheran Church, founded on Dutchman's Creek in Davie Co., NC. Christian was listed in the 1778 Rowan Co. tax lists in Capt. Berger's District as Christian Shiek. Land grants show Christian was a property owner in 1784 in the Smith Grove area near the cemetery of Heidelberg Lutheran Church of which he and Rosina were members. Neither Christian or Rosina's burial site are known but speculation is they are in TN/KY near their children's homes. Of their children, Christian Sheek, Jr. stayed in PA and is buried in Northampton Co, PA; George Sheek settled in Indiana; Maria Sheek Bridgefarmer and Catherine Sheek Turner settled in Wayne Co, KY; David Sheek settled in Obion Co. Extractions: CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS AND CIVILIANS BURIED IN THE CONFEDERATE SECTIONS AND NATIONAL CEMETERY, CAVE HILL CEMETERY, LOUISVILLE, JEFFERSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY Compiled by Geoffrey R. Walden Sons of Confederate Veterans, Gen. Ben Hardin Helm Camp 1703 The Confederate soldier and veteran lots are located in Section "O" of Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY. This listing also contains Confederate soldiers and Southern civilians buried in the Cave Hill National Cemetery. For name searches of this index, use the "Find" or "Search" feature of your browser. Anyone having documented corrections or additions to this listing is invited to contact the compiler at gwalden1864@earthlink.net Copies of these listings, with maps showing the locations of the various Confederate sections, are on file in the Cave Hill Cemetery office. INTRODUCTION Early in 1862, as Confederate soldiers in the Western Theatre began to be taken as prisoners during the War Between the States, the Federal authorities established a system of military prisons to handle these prisoners of war. Later, many of these prisons were expanded to hold civilian political prisoners and Federal soldiers who had been convicted by court martial. A military prison was established in Louisville, primarily as a collection and distribution center for prisons further north. Until the Federal forces had moved deep into Tennessee in late 1863, the Louisville prison was considered too near the Confederate lines to serve as a permanent detention center, and it continued to serve only as a half-way point throughout the war. The only prisoners who stayed long in Louisville were those who were too badly wounded or too sick to send further North, along with various Southern civilian political prisoners (although some of these were also transferred).

Attraction And Personal Development Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are. ~ JamesAllen (18641912). Attraction and Personal Development http://achieveezine.com/nuggets4/Attraction.shtml
Extractions: ~ James Allen (1864-1912) To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract. We can have more than we've got because we can become more than we are. The big challenge is to become all that you have the possibility of becoming. You cannot believe what it does to the human spirit to maximize your human potential and stretch yourself to the limit. The most important question to ask on the job is not "What am I getting?" The most important question to ask on the job is "What am I becoming?" It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development. After you become a millionaire, you can give all of your money away because what's important is not the million dollars; what's important is the person you have become in the process of becoming a millionaire. Income seldom exceeds personal development.

It is not meant to suggest that it is a complete listing of everyone buried in the cemetery, nor a listing of everyone from those organizations who is buried in the cemetery. For the most part the organizations began putting the identification on the tombstones in about 1880 and quit about 1935, though a few are occasionally seen with later death dates.
