Extractions: We do research in the emerging field of bioinformatics, using computation to analyze genome sequences, expression datasets, and macromolecular structures. [ More Comparative genomics is our first focus. Much of this work is encapsulated in the GeneCensus system, which presents various statistical comparisons of the genomes sequenced so far. Our genomics work rests on the utilization of a library of aligned cores for the ~400 currently known protein folds, the basic "partlist" in nature. Datamining expression datasets and other functional genomics information is a second major focus of the lab. We do detailed analysis on them that is closely coupled to the comparative genomics work. Macromolecular motions is our third focus. To further analyze the variability of each of the folds in the protein partslist, we have developed a database system for collecting motions and measuring structural variability.
