Extractions: Determination has always been the 32 year-oldâs by-word and that was never more obvious as he ignored an agonisingly blistered hand to battle all the way in Britainâs defeat by Austria last September. But his fighting spirit has also shone as he has experienced a marked renaissance in his career since clearing his name from allegations of the use of banned substances over a year ago. Initially there was a setback and he fell to 166th place on the ATP Entry System immediately after Wimbledon. But he showed his fighting spirit to reclaim a place within the worldâs top 50 by the end of 2004, and with his most sustained period of full fitness for a long time results during the summer swing in North America suggested he had recaptured the form that took him the US Open final eight years previous. In the early part of this year on the ATP Tour, Rusedski had good reason to question those who make the draws. Nothing seemed to be falling favourably before him as he was repeatedly pitched against big names in the opening rounds; Roger Federer (Doha second round, Monte Carlo first round), Andy Roddick (Australian Open second round, Rome first round) and Tim Henman (Dubai first round, Hamburg second round). The English grass court season was disappointing by his standards as he lost to Radek Stepanek in third round at Queenâs and Joachim Johansson in Wimbledonâs second.

BBC SPORT | Tennis | Rusedski Cleared greg rusedski is found not guilty of doping following his positive test for Is it just me or is greg rusedski a better tennis player than Tim Henman? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/3547917.stm
Extractions: Full text of the statements Greg Rusedski profile Greg Rusedski has been cleared of a doping offence following his positive test for nandrolone. The British player failed a drugs test for the anabolic steroid last summer, but protested his innocence to the Association of Tennis Professionals. "The verdict was clear and unequivocal," said Rusedski, who will hold a news conference on Tuesday. "It's an enormous relief for me and my family and I look forward to resuming my career." The tribunal statement said Rusedski had been cleared of a doping offence on the basis that there was "no evidence supporting such a finding". Rusedski's defence centred around the case of Czech player Bohdan Ulihrach, who was cleared of a similar offence last year. No-one ever believed he was guilty of knowingly taking a banned substance
Extractions: Rusedski's career has been dogged by a fragile body and temperament By successfully defending himself against a positive test for nandrolone, Greg Rusedski has the chance to resurrect his once-promising career. At the start of 2004, the British number two was keen to put a year of injuries behind him and focus his efforts on one last tilt at glory. Instead, the 30-year-old had to face the biggest challenge of his career - clearing his name and attempting to make sure he would not be remembered primarily as a drugs cheat. By doing that, he has the opportunity for another new start after several months on the sidelines. A sometimes prickly character who has rarely let his guard down, it remains to be seen how such a public ordeal will affect Rusedski. Although climbing to the heights he reached earlier in his career is probably out of the question, his sense of injustice at his treatment may now spur him to one last hurrah.

Extractions: Michael Jordan, because of his consistency and greatness all the time. Tennis wise, I would say John McEnroe. I always loved watching him play, watching him compete and I just liked his style of play, serve and volley. He had a fabulous touch around the net and he had great hands so I think he was exciting. I liked to watch him, but he played such a different style from me, he took the ball early. The only thing I copy him on is I string my rackets as loose as he does, 47lbs, but he is a great great player. Why do you string your tension that low?
