Extractions: GO EMANUEL!!!! Links A Short story Competitive Recond Bio / Info At the 2001 Canadians ... Home Emanuel!! Emanuel Sandhu has finally captured the Canadian men's crown at the 2001 Canadian Championships. His ability to be graceful on the ice while landing triples (and quads) earned him this well deserved title. Emanuel has a background in dance, which is quite apperant in his musical interpritations. He studied at the National Ballet of Canada for a number of years, which helped in his training. Nowadays, Emanuel is considered an artist on the ice with (almost) no compare. As well as his fluidity, Emanuel has strong technical elements which class him with the world's best. At a recent compitition, he landed a clean quad-toe triple-toe, one of the best ever seen. With all of this up his sleeve, he will be quite a contender at the World Championships later in the year.

Ice Theatre Of New York 1999 Home Show Last weekend I caught the Saturday night performance of the ice Theatre of NewYork s annual Home emanuel sandhu, one of the guest skaters at the show, http://www.frogsonice.com/skateweb/reports/ice-theatre-99.shtml
Extractions: Ice Theatre of New York 1999 Home Show Last weekend I caught the Saturday night performance of the Ice Theatre of New York's annual Home Show. I've got to say that the ITNY's shows have become a real highlight of the season for me it's such a relief to see some genuine creativity amid the relentless commercialism that skating has turned into in recent years. This year's show opened with "Magic Forest", an ensemble piece choreographed by Doug Webster to some new-age-sounding music listed in the program as being by Brian Keane. At this point I was still trying to identify everyone in the cast but I think the featured skater was Susan Pereira she carried a big pink scarf. There were 8 skaters total in this piece and they worked in various subgroups, initially as 3 pairs plus two women and later in a 3-2-2-1 grouping and then two groups of 4. Emanuel Sandhu, one of the guest skaters at the show, skated his Kamasutra short program, which I had heard about but never seen before. He opened with a triple axel/triple toe and a death drop, then fell on what I think was a triple flip, did a triple toe, circular footwork, and a spin combination with his signature "A" spin that got a lot of applause. Emanuel rotates so fast in the air that I wasn't sure if at least one of the jumps he did might have been a quad. I am also pleased to see that he is skating with a lot more speed than the last time I saw him (1998 Worlds). The next piece was an ensemble listed as "Heart", for four skaters two men and two women dressed in coordinating black outfits, choreographed by JoAnna Mendl Shaw to some music with a heavy beat. I didn't think there was a heck of a lot to the ensemble work in this number, as the four skaters mostly just skated in unison in a block formation although there were a few places where they did dance lifts as two pairs, or when one skater would break off briefly from the other three.

Extractions: Barry Mittan Current Canadian men's champion Emanuel Sandhu, a Toronto native who lives in Vancouver, will be looking for his fourth finish at the top of the podium when he competes at the 2005 BMO Canadian Championships in London, Ontario in January. Sandhu already has seven consecutive top two finishes at Canadians, winning four silvers in addition to three golds since coming up from juniors, where he won the men's title in 1997. Sandhu has thrice finished in the top ten at the World Championships, including eighth the last two years. He also won the 2003-04 ISU Grand Prix Final after qualifying at the last minute when Brian Joubert withdrew. He went on to finish second at the Four Continents Championships in 2004, his fourth top ten finish there. But he has not yet skated in the Olympics, withdrawing due to a knee injury in 2002. The talented 24-year-old began the 2004-05 ISU competitive season by winning his first Grand Prix event at Skate Canada, then took the bronze medal at Trophee Eric Bompard Cachemire in Paris, qualifying for the ISU Grand Prix Final, where he finished fourth.

SKTG-World-Rdp, 8th Writethru Buttle was the first to perform in the freeskating final, and he fell twice . emanuel sandhu, 24, of Richmond Hill, Ont., finished seventh. http://www.cp.org/english/online/full/skating/050317/l031730A.html
Extractions: MOSCOW (CP) - Jeff Buttle fell twice but emerged with the silver medal. Wow. An incredible chain of events put Canada's champion on the podium at the World Figure Skating Championships on Thursday with winner Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland and bronze medallist Evan Lysacek of the United States. Earlier in the day, three-time and defending champion Evgeni Plushenko of Russia withdrew with a groin injury while in third place, moving Buttle up to third in the standings. Buttle was the first to perform in the free-skating final, and he fell twice. At that point, his medal chances appeared to have disappeared. "I thought I'd be third or fourth," said Buttle. Surely, others would do better. It didn't happen. Brian Joubert of France, last year's silver medallist and second before the long program, was a writeoff. Even with two falls, Buttle was better than Joubert.

Extractions: MOSCOW (CP) - Canada's team left the World Figure Skating Championships with an extra Olympic entry, and the knowledge that most of its skaters did not perform their best. One medal was won, silver by Jeffrey Buttle, and that's one more than last year, but most didn't produce when it mattered most. The positive way to look at what happened is that, when the 2006 Winter Games roll around next February, they'll be better. "With the exception of (ice dancers) Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe, we left a lot of points on the table," said Skate Canada CEO Pam Coburn. "There's lots of places to improve on from where they ended up here. "Now we go back and regroup. We work on the mental game, and I think you're going to see tremendous improvement." The 2006 world championships will be in Calgary next March. By then, more judges will be trained in the intricacies of cumulative-points scoring that has replaced the antiquated 6.0 system.
