Untitled Document MFSC ice Shows have been fortunate to star skaters of the calibre of Petra Burka, and fedor andreev. In 1949, the Club had only a very few skaters. http://www.skatecanada-centralontario.com/Miss50Frameset/MFSC50-2.htm
Extractions: Like a nomad, the Club moved from arena to arena as the membership grew and ice needs changed. It all started at Dixie Arena Gardens in 1949 and since then, skaters have been coached at the Valleys, Chic Murray, Tomken and Iceland Arenas In 1950, the Club had two coaches and grew steadily until today it boasts 15 coaches as well as part-time and synchronized skating coaches. The very first Ice Show was held in the Spring of 1951 and was called Ice Capers. It was a phenomenal success and played to sold out crowds. Based on its initial popularity, Ice Shows were presented every year until the number of skaters grew to the point where the combined time, effort and cost became prohibitive and the frequency of shows was reduced to every other year. Throughout all this time, the Club's Ice Shows garnered a reputation for intricately detailed and colourful costumes, wonderful sets, popular and lively music and immensely entertaining choreographed numbers.

Extractions: Larry: Thanks for doing this interview. This is great! I caught your segment on Arthur the Aardvark , which featured a cartoon of Michelle Kwan. I think that you are an outstanding role model for young children. Do you feel a special responsibility to your youngest fans now that you have achieved such a high level of visibility in the sport? Do you have any more children's programming in the works? Jennifer: Thank you! Of course I feel a big responsibility to be a good role model to younger skaters and to set a good example for skaters that are coming up in the sport. As for future work with children's programming, nothing is planned; however I would love to do some more work in the years to come! Garrett: Hey Jenny! First of all, I want to tell you how much I enjoy your skating and what a great person you are! My question is do you have any advice on keeping your nerves down during a competition? Thanks! Jennifer: Keeping your nerves under control during a competition is crucial. Sometimes people think that getting nervous is a bad thing, but I've found that being nervous can be very good. It gives you an adrenaline rush and lets your body know that what you're about to do is important and matters. However, being overly nervous is often detrimental to a skater and produces a poor skate. The most important thing is finding a balance between being excited and just a little bit nervous, and becoming beyond nervous where your muscles get tight and you psych yourself out.
A Century Of Skating At The Minto Skating Club It is a time for celebration and the Minto skating Club was in the mood to Mandy Valentine, fedor andreev, and Chantal Lefebvre and Aseniy Markov. http://www.goldenskate.com/articles/2003/052204.shtml
Extractions: Margaret Burgwell Don Jackson and Brian Orser, both former Canadian and World Champions and Olympic medalists to join Barbara Ann Scott King to cut the 100th birthday cake. A 100th anniversary is a landmark event for any organization. It is a time for celebration and the Minto Skating Club was in the mood to celebrate. It has been a year of special activities. Tulips were planted at the Minto Skating Centre. A dinner and auction was held in November, 2003. A special book, Minto: Skating Through Time by Janet Uren, was published in time for Christmas giving. Special skating performances were part of Winterlude and celebrations at Rideau Hall, home of Canada's Governor General Adrienne Clarkson. The climax of the year of celebration came with a special performance of the Minto Follies on May 14th and the Skater's Ball and Celebrity Auction on May 15th. The guest of honor for the weekend was Barbara Ann Scott King, Canada's first Olympic gold medalist in figure skating, and her husband, Tom King. Ottawa mayor, Bob Chiarelli declared Friday May 14th to be Barbara Ann Scott day. The proclamation was made at Ottawa City Hall and she was presented with a birdhouse built by an Ottawa city employee. The birdhouse was constructed from wood taken from a 100 year-old barn and the roof was covered with copper taken several years ago from the roof of the Chateau Laurier during restoration and which had been in place on the roof of the Chateau in 1947 and 1948 when Barbara Ann was winning her World and Olympic gold medals.

Of the top three skaters in the short program, Honda skated in the first warm-up (the weaker of the two) and Yagudin and Eldredge were in the second. Honda began his program with quad toe loop - triple toe loop, landing the quad but stepping out of the triple. He also landed a solo triple Axel but stepped out of a triple flutz. He skated to "Don Quixote" in a program choreographed by Lori Nichol. It was a lively presentation and received good second marks, though it did not really capture the spirit of the music. Despite the two errors on his jumps he claimed seven of nine third place ordinals with one judge placing Canadian Ben Ferreira third and another American Matt Savoie. Savoie had a decent skate giving a nice performance with good speed. He started with a successful triple Axel but in the subsequent combination he popped the second jump ending up with a triple flip - single too loop. Later in the program he landed a solo triple Lutz.

Extractions: Articles (Nationals) I Have Highlighted information On Chris Mabee and Jeff Buttle Emanuel Sandhu wins Canadian men's figure skating title for third time NEIL STEVENS EDMONTON (CP) - Sandhu Can Do. A fan handed the sign to Emanuel Sandhu ( news web sites )'s coach, Joanne McLeod, and she was holding it awaiting his marks. The sign's message was right on. Sandhu was a clear-cut winner of a third Canadian men's figure skating title Saturday night after laying down a four-revolution quad jump plus eight triple jumps. The 23-year-old native of Richmond Hill, Ont., didn't get any perfect marks but he deserved a few. "It was magnificent," said McLeod. "He was a bit nervous because the other guys have improved but he pulled through." Ben Ferreira ( news external web site ) of Edmonton, who was fourth last year, won the silver medal. Jeff Buttle ( news external web site ) of Smooth Rock Falls, Ont., the runner-up last year to Sandhu, slipped to bronze. In pairs, Valerie Marcoux of Gatineau, Que., and Craig Buntin of Kelowna, B.C., upset the favourites to win gold. Anabelle Langois of Grand-Mere, Que., and Patrice Archetto of Montreal, No. 5 in the world and leading after the short program Thursday, wound up with silver.
