Extractions: Not to mention one of hockey's most colouful characters. Esa Tikkanen is another one of those guys you love to have on your team, but you can't stand playing against him. He's a pest, an aggravator and a troublemaker. Tik, always with a stupid expression on his face, is constantly stirring up the pot. Esa Tikkanen can play all three forward positions and applies all his considerable finesse skills to the defensive aspects of the game. A consistent 30 goal scorer throughout his career, Tikkanen can be counted on to provide solid two-way play, leadership and dependable play. "Although Tikkanen's lost a step, he still has some speed, which he uses most effectively killing penalties, and he is an aggressive forechecker, creating offensive chances off his work in the offencive zone. He blocks shots, hooks, holds and bumps, and if assigned to shadow a specific player will hound that mark relentlessly. The bigger the name, the bigger his game. "Tikkanen has enough offencive skills to work on the power play as well, from either the point or by working the puck down low. He has confidence in his puckhandling ability and sees the ice well. Despite taking chances low, he will be the first forward back to help out on defense. He likes to work out from behind the net, curl in front and shoot. Tikkanen also has a laser blast that he likes to go high with on the goalie's left side. He is a choppy skater but chugs hard and gets to where he has to go.
