Extractions: Chuck Grillo Get Chuck's Resume Meet Chuck's mentors! For 16 seasons, Chuck worked with the NHL. From 1995 to 1996 he held the position of Executive Vice President, Director of Player Personnel for the San Jose Sharks. Grillo supervised the club's scouting department and player development program and was responsible for their draft selections. He was the Sharks primary source of information regarding player trades and acquisitions. Grillo was promoted to executive vice president on March 23, 1995. He previously held a vice president title, along with some duties of the office of general manager, since June 26, 1992. Grillo, a native of Hibbing, Minn., served as director of pro scouting from 1988-90 with the Minnesota North Stars, preceded by eight years as a scout for the New York Rangers. Grillo participated in the NHL draft process since 1981. His contributions have led to the selection of 47 players who are established NHL performers, and nearly 30 others who either have NHL experience or are on the verge of breaking into the league. Out of 14 first-round selections for whom he has been responsible, all 14 have become NHL regulars, including James Patrick, Dave Gagner, Ulf Dahlen, Brian Leetch (1994 Playoffs MVP), Jayson More, Darian Hatcher, Falloon, Mike Rathje, Andrei Nazarov, Viktor Kozlov and Friesen (named to 1994-95 All- Rookie Team). The 95 draft resulted in goal tenders Mikka Kiprusoff and Vesa Toskala. Mike Richter, John Vanbiesbrouck, Tony Amonte, Tony Granato, Tomas Sandstrom, Corey Millen, Paul Broten, Kelly and Kevin Miller add glitter to the list. Chuck participated on staffs with seven players in the 1997 NHL All Star game and no less than six in 98, 99, 00 and 01.

The Leafs may have let me down in the Buffalo series, but they got me point where it really matters, in the beeHive playoff pool. :-) Oh, if you're curious why I let Geoff catch up to me, I just figured it would be greedy of me to win both the hockey *and* baseball pools, so I told the boys to sit back and wait for Geoff to finally catch up. No thanks are necessary, I'm just that kind of guy. Dave "TO all the way" Brandow, June, 1999 As if we haven't had enough, here's some humble words from the other winner: I have no time for a lenghty acceptance speech, as I'm too busy building an extra room in my house to display my ever-growing collection of Rogue Pucks. However, I'd like to thank Bill for his efforts in organizing the pool and the officials whose decision to allow Brett Hull's goal gave me the point I needed to find my rightful place at the top of the standings. Extractions: Last update: 4/10/2000 15:45 It's official. Steve Shikaze claims the Rogue Puck (TM) . Check the Past beeHive Pool Winners Wall of Fame Here's some humble words from the winner: There are (at least) three theories with regards to how to win the Rogue Puck. The first is blind luck - pick your team and hope for the best. The second theory is that each pick is carefully selected after hours of research. The third theory involves intuition - some 'random' picks and some research. Now, as the most-recent winner of the Rogue Puck, I can say with confidence that no method has any guarantee of success. All we can do is go out, give 110%, take one game at a time, and just be happy to be here. In many ways, winning the Rogue Puck is like winning the Stanley Cup: We all start out at the beginning of the season with aspirations of the Big Prize. We each have our "team", and we want to outscore the opposition, and whoever comes out on top at the end wins the Puck. Sometimes, the best team 'on paper' will not win, as we all know that the game is not played on paper. This season, I'm not sure if the 'best team' won, but I know that I'm taking home the Rogue Puck. I've had my eye on a couple of pucks as potential Rogues for a while. I've even shot a couple of new pucks over the glass in the hope that one of them will be the one awarded at the end of the season.
