Extractions: Biography Quebec had just finished two standout seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), part of the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League (CHL). He also represented Canada at the World Junior Championships in Finland. Lecavalier joined the Lightning in 1998-99 for his rookie campaign and finished in the top ten in goals, points, and shots among NHL freshman. He was one of only two Tampa Bay players to play in all 82 games that season. Lecavalier was named NHL Rookie of the Month for February. Lecavalier broke loose during his second NHL season in 1999-2000 by leading the Lightning in goals (25), assists (42) and points (67). He was named Team Captain on March 11, 2000, becoming the youngest full-time Captain in NHL history. During the 2000-2001 season, Lecavalier missed 14 games because of a fractured bone in his left foot but still managed to score 51 points (23G, 28A). He represented Canada at the 2001 World Hockey Championships and scored 5 points in only 7 games. In 2001-2002, Lecavalier became the first Lightning player to have three consecutive 20-goal seasons.
