Eric Fichaud (1995-present) Traded by Edmonton (with D Drake Berehowsky and D greg devries) to Winner,Quebec Major Junior hockey League Top Draft Prospect Award, 199394. http://hockeygoalies.org/bio/fichaud.html
Extractions: Last updated Thursday, 08-Sep-05 00:14:55 EDT Name pronounced FEE-shoh. "The Leafs were so impressed with Fichaud's work in the pre-season that they signed the Potvin clone to a four-year contract before returning him to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec League. In his first preseason game, he played 30 minutes against the Montreal Canadiens and stopped 25 of 26 shots. As they did with Potvin, the Leafs will likely send Fichaud to St. John's after his junior career ends. "And if he plays like Potvin did, we've got a problem," said Leafs' assistant GM Bill Watters. "But it's a nice one."" (Ken Campbell, The Hockey News Future Watch 1995)

(The Sports Forecaster Hockey '97-'98, p. 191) "Will probably never be a starter, but is among the league's top backups. Quick and agile. Has had success everywhere he's played. Can handle the puck with aplomb. He has to earn his playing time as the Ducks have stuck with Hebert as their No. 1 goalie." (The Sports Forecaster Hockey '97-'98, p. 194) "After being acquired from Edmonton, Shtalenkov provided the Coyotes with the perfect backup for fellow Russian Khabibulin . Despite a failure to take over the No. 1 role with Oilers, he remains a valuable commodity. Shtalenkov seems perfectly suited for a backup role. He tends to play well even after long stints on the bench, and his attitude is excellent. Shtalenkov will team with Khabibulin to form one of the NHL's best goaltending tandems. Even if he shines in his new role, it's unlikely that he has any future as a front-liner." (The Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 210)

Extractions: Playoff Calculator Click here to contact us! Every year for the playoffs, we provide a Playoff Calculator. Once the teams and matchups for the playoffs are set, there is a link from THE Hockey Pool home page labeled "Playoff Calculator". After you click on it, it prompts you to predict the winning team for each playoff round and how many games you think they will win in. Then, based on the playoff format for the year, it will present you with your predicted match-ups for the subsequent round and allow you to predict the winners again. Once your predictions are made all the way to the finals, the Calculator will look at how many games you predict each team to play in the post season. Then, based on the predicted number of games, the Calculator will compute the expected point output of each player in the post-season based on their regular season points per game. Does this give you a list you would want to draft from? Probably not unless you are really certain about who's going to win which match up, but it can give you an indication of which player you should draft first given the choice between a few equal scorers in later rounds. Drop us an email using the 'Suggestions, Comments, or Insane Ramblings' feedback option and let us know how you use the calculator or what could be added to make it more useful to you.

Goaltenders: Detroit's Dominik Hasek vs. Colorado's Patrick Roy. Injuries: Red Wings' Igor Larionov (sprained knee) will play. Avalanche's Peter Forsberg (hand injury) presumed to be ready to play. Cut to the chase: One question: Will Bob Hartley play Forsberg and Sakic together or apart? Together he has a more dominant line, but apart he can match up better against Detroit's depth up front. Key matchup: Chelios vs. Forsberg. The latter has been a bull this postseason, and Chelios is one of the grittiest bullfighters in NHL history.

Canadianwild.ca 2003-2004 NHL Preview Next year we may not have a hockey season and if we do it will be under a different greg devries 4. Paul Kariya 3. Sergei Fedorov 2. Dominik Hasek http://www.canadianwild.ca/nhl.htm
Extractions: 2003-2004 NHL Preview The 2003-2004 season will be a significant season for the NHL for two key reasons. First it will be the last season of the collective bargaining agreement. Next year we may not have a hockey season and if we do it will be under a different salary structure. Second this is the year the NHL claims it will crack down on over-sized goalie pads. If they uphold their promise the league will be much more exciting as scorers will have a chance to make hockey look like the fastest game on Earth and not just a pool game. On the ice this is the year the Ottawa Senators could win the Cup. Marian Hossa, Wade Reddon, and Patrick Lalime will have to all play solid for this to happen. But Marian Hossa is the key because he could lead the league in goals this year. Any hope for a Stanley Cup will rest on the emergence of Marian Hossa as the next superstar player in the NHL. The wild card team to win the Stanley Cup is the Detroit Red Wings. If there is a team desperate enough for a goaltender they may receive someone like Alexei Kovalev, Jaromir Jagr, or Jeremy Roenick. The Red Wings have the best defense in the league with Lidstrom, Chelios, Hatcher, and Schneider. If they can stock up their offence a bit they will be a very serious contender.
