In the 1999-2000 season, he led the league with 34 goals. He ended the year with 69 points while playing in only 56 games. So far, Kraft, a 6’3", 191 lb. center man, has accumulated 4 goals and 3 assists this season with the Pens. After the game against the Colorado Avalanche, Kraft had a 5 game point streak going, playing mainly on the Pens third line between Rene Corbet and Aleksey Morozov. In fairness, Simicek has performed relatively well for a player who never competed at any level of hockey in North America. And I'm sure that if you kept your eye on him for a few shifts the next time you're at Mellon Arena especially away from the puck, which you can't do on TV you'd see that he's making some strides with each passing game. That said, it's a questionable proposition, at best, to play a 29-year-old rookie with no extra gear in his legs over two highly promising youngsters in Kraft and Morozov. Corbet is another issue.
