Extractions: Five months later and all of the Portland Trail Blazers still enjoy their experience creating the memorable commercials from last fall's Block Party. You know the ones - Sebastian Telfair showing off his quick hands, Travis Outlaw playing football with the kids, Darius Miles and his mom playing cards with fans, Theo Ratliff blocking swimming pool basketball shots, Derek Anderson playing Jenga, Zach Randolph and Damon Stoudamire taking on some kids at video games... I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. The Block Party concept was created to give fans a chance to get a little closer to the players and find out they are regular people too. They like to hang out, have a BBQ, play some Jenga, hit the foosball table, talk about the newest music albums - just like everyone else. Damon Stoudamire and Maurice Cheeks relaxing on the X-Box with some local kids. I know this had gone on a long time ago, but I decided to see if the experience some of the Blazers had with those commercials was still something they cherished.

To get an idea of what the average stats for a player active on a starting fantasy roster would be I analyzed the statistics of the 120 players who averaged the most minutes played per game last season (hey ... what else are you going to do during The Lockout ... watch baseball? ... I don't think so!). The averages for 8 common statistical categories are shown in the table below. Also, to determine how the players stats were distributed above and below the averages I found the standard deviation of the 120 players for each stat category. A 'bell' shaped distribution would predict that 68% of the players would fall within one standard deviation of the average. Hang with me now ... the goal will be to determine who the fantasy basketball studs are ... not to put you to sleep! Calbert Cheany and Joe Smith managed to be in the top 120 in minutes played per game but were below average in all 8 of the categories investigated. By the way OnHoops.com readers, LJ was below average in 6 of the 8 categories! That's kind of stiff too.

Save it. 2002-03 Record: 35-47/Fifth in Central Division * 2003-04 Projection; 24-58 * Coach; Terry Stotts WHERE THEY LEFT OFF: The Hawks entered last season with high hopes, prompting a playoff guarantee that promised a refund to season ticketholders if they fell short. Atlanta never blended despite three prolific scorers in Glenn Robinson (20.8 ppg), Shareef Abdur-Rahim (19.9), and Jason Terry (17.2). Robinson added little besides his perimeter jumper and led the team in turnovers. The Hawks finished strong, going 21-19 and posting a 6-2 April record. But by then, the refund checks were in the mail. NEW FACES: The team needed help, but found very little. Its uncertain ownership situationthe Hawks were on the block for monthsfled GM Billy Knight's hands. Knight pulled off an impressive draft amidst the uncertainty:. Though not a scorer, Boris Diaw brings much needed athleticism and versatility. The 6'8" Frenchman may even start alongside Terry in a point guard or point forward role. Second round pick Travis Hansen could add some backcourt depth.

The Blazers will most likely leave Damon Stoudamire and Ruben Patterson Derek Anderson certainly should not be playing 40 minutes a night. IGN: ESPN NBA Basketball Review IGN is the ultimate resource for ESPN NBA basketball reviews featuring There was one play where Amare Stoudemire actually kneed theo ratliff in the back http://xbox.ign.com/articles/455/455907p3.html
Extractions: The player models are incredibly detailed, from the actual tats on the bodies to animating cloth on their jerseys and shorts. The player models themselves have also been refined to include thinner legs and ankles than last year's tree trunk thighs, their arms are shorter and feature improved definition, while the faces are accurate down to Nick Van Exel's eyebrow. More attention has also been paid to the real head coaches of the NBA so Phil Jackson looks more like Phil Jackson than Freddy Jackson (although I would settle for Janet). ESPN NBA also features an all new animation system, that not only help speeds up the action, but brings another level of realism to the court by adding more player collisions, especially on dunks. There was one play where Amare Stoudemire actually kneed Theo Ratliff in the back of the head as he rose up for a slam, knocking Theo to the floor as Amare finished the play, and it was the first time in a while where a game made me stand up and shout about how dope the play was. And the kicker is, I was Theo Ratliff. For those with high-end TVs, you'll be happy to learn that ESPN NBA supports 480p and 720p on the Xbox, while it only supports 480P on the PS2. The game looks incredible, though, and you'll really want to check out the player details at the highest level possible.
