Brief Written History Of CCS Boys' Basketball Championships The Central Coast Section boys basketball tournament was inaugurated in 1968, kurt rambis of Cupertino scored 50 in 1976 against Ravenswood. http://www.cifccs.org/history/basketballb-written.html
Extractions: for compiling this information! By Don Nash, 1999 The Central Coast Section boys basketball tournament was inaugurated in 1968, just two seasons after the section was formed. To many area basketball fans, it was an extension of the Peninsula Basketball Tournament which had been bringing the area's league championsall part of the North Coast Sectiontogether for nine years. Through the years, the format has varies and with it the number of teams competingranging from 11 the first four years to 86 in 1988, the first year of five-division play. In the earlier years, the leagues were assigned to georgraphical regions and regional championships were held before the sectional championships. Presently, the CCS champion in each division automatically qualifies for the CIF Northern California playoffs and a chance at the state championship. Only two teamsWillow Glen in 1969 and Palo Alto in 1993finished the season undefeated. Palo Alto won the State CIF Division 3 title but Willow Glen's effort came before state playoffs. The top individual scoring perfomance was 51 points by Willow Glen's Brad Quinet in 1992 against Burlingame. Kurt Rambis of Cupertino scored 50 in 1976 against Ravenswood.

What I mean is that you have two defensive-minded teams in the Detroit Pistons and San Antonio Spurs, but I think the two teams are not the issue. Both showed they can score when they get into a groove, but the worst of it is that they both showed they can hack, hack and hack some more on the opponents and not get a call. C'mon referees, let them play but learn how to call a game. It's an ugly situation when you don't call something when it should be called based on the basis they are "letting them play." I'm indifferent towards who wins because I like aspects of both teams. I like the San Antonio Spurs philosophy. I like how head coach Greg Popovich motivates his team. I think he hits it dead on. The "X's" and "O's" are out for the most part once the playoffs begin and he tells them that. It's about being men, having the heart to win a championship and overcoming whatever is keeping you from doing that.

Why can't it be his country of origin? Or more likely, is it because Stern is constantly pimpin' the foreign players? I get so tired of hearing about the anti-white bias. There are studies available that discuss just the opposite how white players of similar statistical performances make more money , how white players are able to serve as bench warmers at a greater rate . There is just no evidence to support this so-called white bias.

On occasion we see products that because of their quality of production and educational value fall somewhere in-between these two paradigms. For those of us fortunate enough to have grown up in the 60's and 70's, we had and eye into at least one or two (TV) channels of the Professional basketball arena. In the days before marketing has run amok with professional and college sports, we would sit glued by a black and white noise filled TV screen, hopeful your rabbit ears (antenna for the younger generation) and weather permitting maybe catch a glimpse of the a Pro Basketball Game. More often than not it was a college game on radio. There were only 9 or 10 NBA teams then and we were fortunate to get one game a week. However when playoff time came we might get the big games on network TV (there was no ESPN or FoxSports in those days).

Extractions: There are as many possible answers to this question as there are people who ask the question. While the overseas players are looming larger in the NBA Draft it is still premature to make an absolute response that will hold up under scrutiny. This phenomenon is only 3 to 4 years old and needs another 5 to 6 before a pattern is clear. Being drafted is a clear advantage and there are firm economic guidelines for those drafted in the first round. Any player who is drafted will have up front money invested in him and therefore the club will usually go to great ends to find a return on their investment. Undrafted players, or free agents, likely have not established themselves well enough to be drafted therefore they are not necessarily in demand. Sometimes after a few years and if they are good enough or have developed a reputation overseas they do have the option of selecting a team (if more than one expresses an interest in them) but it would be rare that they can dictate how much money they will be paid. Kurt Rambis, a mainstay reserve on several of the Los Angeles Lakers showtime teams of the late 80s is a good example an undrafted player going to Europe and improving in strength and confidence to the point that at least one NBA team wanted his services.

Todd Warshaw/Allsport INGLEWOOD, Calif. AP) In with the Worm, and out with the coach. The slumping Los Angeles Lakers , considered one of the teams to beat in the NBA this season, fired coach Del Harris on Wednesday on the heels of three road losses in as many days. The move was announced while Dennis Rodman , the NBA's leading rebounder the last seven seasons, was participating in his first practice session with the team after signing a contract Tuesday. Jerry West, the team's vice president of basketball operations, said that one of two assistants Kurt Rambis or Larry Drew will succeed Harris for at least the rest of the season. West said longtime assistant Bill Bertka will handle the head coaching duties Thursday night against the winless Los Angeles Clippers in Anaheim before a decision is made on Drew or Rambis, both former Lakers players.
