Extractions: This is the official site for Earl's Biography: New York City is arguably the capital of playground hoops; producing some of the greatest talent seen on the courts. One of the best ever was Earl "the Goat" Manigault . The Goat held court against countless NBA pros and Hall-of-Famers. This sleek 6-2 court-acrobat ran like a gazelle and seemed to defy gravity when he took flight. The only thing that could bring The Goat down to earth were his own personal vices on the street. Earl will always be remembered as a playground legend of his day. Earl "the Goat" Manigault is perhaps the best basketball player ever to have played the game. A shade over 6 feet tall, he could dunk effortlessly with both hands. With a vertical leap of 52 inches, he had the ability to jump up and grab quarters off of the top of a basketball backboard. He played during the renaissance of New York City basketball in the 1960s, playing with the playground legends Connie Hawkins, Lew Alcindor, Earl "the Pearl" Monroe, Herman "the Helicopter" Knowings and Jackie Jackson.

Ruckers Basketball Tournament The Rucker basketball tournaments were started in 1950. Bill Bradley fromNew Jersey and earl manigault who was a great legend who is now deceased. http://www.harlemlive.org/community/parks/ruckerpark/
Extractions: Photos by: Shem Rajoon On a hot, sunny day, we were invited to the All-Star Ruckers game by Rucker clothes line promoter Ron Stewart. At the All-Star game there was a slam dunk and a three point shooting contest at Rucker Park on 155th sreet and 8th Ave. Over two hundred people came to cheer on the young contestants. Security was tight throughout the park. The security company used was "Up and Arms Security" who also worked for a spy shop run in Brooklyn, "Tec-One" spy shop. The store is found in the Brooklyn Mall and has been there for about a year and a half. The Up and Arms Security has worked for Rucker since 1994-1995. For the Slam dunk contest, a contestant named Hollywood, did cart wheels then slam dunk the ball into the net. Another contestant named Smiley, did various Slam dunk stunts. He and Hollywood were the best contestants. Hollywood had a hard time getting the ball into the net, but he kept trying . You could tell he did a lot of practicing. In the end, Smiley came in first place and Hollywood came in second. Smiley was not availible for an interview. Hollywood and Smiley both won Black and Silver Rucker gear. But it was the first place Rucker winner, Smiley, who won a year's worth of Rucker gear in black and silver, colors only worn by family and close friends.
Extractions: Affectionately nicknamed "The Goat" because many people could not pronounce his last name, Manigault, who stood 6'1", earned his legendary status for doing such remarkable basketball stunts as once reverse dunking a ball 36 times in a row, and his Double Dunk, where he would slam the ball through a net, catch it as it dropped through the cords and, still airborne, dunk it again.
Extractions: Count Bass D, who's that? Yeah, that's what you're probably wondering. I know I was, until I listened to his new album Dwight Spitz and started talking to people other than myself. The Count's latest LP (his third)- emerging from the green mist of High Times' newly sprouted record label - is exactly what Count Bass D professes; a mastery of the MPC (the Akai drum machine/sampler), a device that has basically spawned every beat you've nodded your head to in the '90s, think Premier). Based on the sound of the album and Count's casual affiliations with MF DOOM, J Rawls and Madlib (among others), he appeared to be a beat head from day one. After checking his website (yes, please give me a wedgie and hang me up on the edge of a locker; for I am a nerd) and discovering that he'd done collaborations ranging from Vitamin C (what?) to Victor Wooten (who?), I wasn't sure what the hell to think. So, I gave the man a phone call at his home in Nashville, Tennessee. Trust me, asking for someone by the name of "CountBassD" is far more awkward than you can imagine; it's like calling up a "Sesame Street" puppeteer's house and asking for Snufalufagus. Over the tele, the Count recounted, OK never mind, here you go:

He developed his writing skills as publisher of two weekly newspapers - publications which earned him top awards in investigative reporting from the Massachusetts Press Association and the New England Press Association. As a freelance writer, his work has been published by scores of newspapers and magazines, both here and abroad. He is also the author of numerous short stories and novellas; the co-author of two books on local Massachusetts history; and the author of Visionaries, a companion book to The Visionaries television series. Bill's interest in documenting philanthropic work began during an assignment for Boston Magazine in South America. That trip led to writing and producing videos for many nonprofit organizations, working on location in India, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru. Bill's work in television began in 1992 with a project for the Stobart Foundation: a 13-part television series that encouraged young artists to paint directly from nature. The series focused on world-renowned maritime artist John Stobart as he traveled around the globe painting original landscapes on camera. Hosted by Walter Cronkite, WorldScape was broadcast on public television stations nationwide.

Extractions: It took 300 years to build the Russian empire and only one man to destroy it. Rasputin was the dissolute "holy man" whose healing powers made him part of the royal family...and whose exotic sexual magnetism enthralled and outraged the nobility. Alan Rickman (Die Hard) stars in this epic drama as the strange man who used his mysterious powers for both good and evil...and helped push a nation into revolution. Ian McKellen (And the Band Played On) and Greta Scacchi are the tragic Tsar and Tsarina, Nicholas and Alexandra. They defined "cool" in the '50s and '60s. They were Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Peter Lawford, and their brash antics made life in the fast lane look like the only way to go. This candid, probing drama reveals the truth about these four superstars whose private lives were often at odds with their public images. With Don Cheadle, Angus MacFayden and Deborah Kara Unger.

There is constant blurriness in motion sequences. Colors seem accurate and the audio is acceptable, if on the quiet side. This would have greatly benefited from English subtitles as the slang lingo can come at an alarming pace. There are no extras, that would have been a useful bonus in delving further into the current 'legend'. It does have a very weak Spanish dub. Sloppy work, when such a good storyline deserved more.
