Mark teamed with Patrick Ewing Charles Oakley , and John Starks to turn the Knicks into a prime playoff team in the early 1990s. However, during the time that Mark was on the Knicks, they were taken out of the playoffs each year by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Mark had a steady career with the Knicks, averaging 13.6 points per game and 10.6 assists per game, earning him the Rookie of the Year award. After the 1992 season, Mark was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, a trade that saw Charles Smith and Doc Rivers go to the Knicks. After toiling for five years rebuildingthe program at Mercer, Slonaker helpedauthor the greatest single-season turn -around in NCAA history, going from 6-23in 2001-02 to 23-6 in 2002-03. A native of Rahway, N.J., Slonaker's path to the head job at Mercer began in 1976 when he began his collegiate career at the University of Georgia.
