Rating The New Basketball Cards covered for 30 minutes a game by the awful cedric henderson. But why pickon poor cedric? Outside of Kemp, Anderson, and the point guards, http://www.strat-o-matic.com/sphere/huntbb99.htm
Extractions: Rating the New Basketball Cards By Dick Hunt The newest set of Strat-O-Matic basketball cards has arrived! The first thing I noticed at a glance was that there were more 2-12 free throw shooters than there usually are. Most of those had very few attempts, of course, thanks to the short schedule, but perfection is perfection! The second thing that stood out was the durability everyone seemed to display. With fewer games to endure, players had a lot fewer injury problems. I wonder if the NBA will take that as a sign? Nahhhh, probably not... ATLANTA (31-19): Mookie Blaylock got a 1 shooting rating and a decent shooting card, especially when you consider his lousy 37.9 field goal percentage. Steve Smith makes up for it, drawing fouls very well. He also has a 2-9,12 free throw shooting rating to back it up. Grant Long was a nice surprise, getting a good card for the first time in years. Like Smith, Long could make a living on his ability to draw fouls. However, if you have Grant Long on your draft team, now would be an excellent time to deal him. Sucker someone into taking his good 1998-99 card and ignoring the rest of his mediocre career.

Extractions: 04.17.04 Asheville, NC The Asheville Altitude outlasted the Fayetteville Patriots 116-111 Saturday night at the Asheville Civic Center to advance to the finals of the NBDL Postseason Classic. Fayetteville's Kenny Satterfield led all scorers with 33 points, including 6-of-14 shooting from three-point range in the loss. Brandon Kurtz paced Asheville with 24 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench. Despite a 22-8 spurt by the Altitude to open the second quarter, the game was a tight struggle throughout. The Patriots trimmed the lead to eight points by halftime and then opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run to take a four-point lead (68-64). Asheville was nursing a five-point lead early in the fourth quarter before Kareem Reid and Kurtz took over, combining for 17 points and 9-of-13 clutch free throws to secure the win. "It's great. It's what we play for all year," said Reid. "This is what we've been working and practicing for and it's going to be exciting this week." Fayetteville took advantage of three-point shooting to keep the game close, sinking nine long-distance shots while Asheville went 0-for-4.
