The AIS Men's and Women's Basketball Programs, which were established in 1981, are recognised as one of the world's leading basketball development programs. AIS Women's Coach Phil Brown, who led the Institute to a credible fifth placing in last years WNBL, says he is looking forward to working with the 2002 scholarship squad. 'This new squad consists of an excellent blend of experience, size and athleticism. We have six players returning from last years program, joining the six new members on scholarship,' Mr Brown said. The AIS 2002 Men's program has eight players who have just returned from overseas where they represented the Australian Under-20 Men's team in the prestigious Albert Schweitzer tournament. AIS Men's Coach Frank Arsego said 'the Institute's 2002 program had brought together some tremendous athletes who possess good physical strength in all positions, great athletic ability and a positive work ethic'.

"I definitely want to play one more season," Loggins said. "I want to be the first to play 20 seasons in the NBL. No one will ever take that away from me. "I'll be in a league of my own, at least temporarily until James Crawford and Andrew Gaze get there." Loggins is one of the most highly-decorated players in NBL history. Named on the NBL's 20th Season Team, Loggins has won three NBL titles with the Bullets (1985-87) and West Adelaide Bearcats (1982) and has also received three Most Valuable Player awards.
