All players on a team must wear the same colour shoes in any game. Most NBA players wear high-cut shoes for ankle support. Power players who play inside often wear very sturdy shoes because of the pounding their position takes. Perimeter players focus on shoes that may be lighter in order to move and cut. Some players, like former Dallas Mavericks forward Johnny Newman, wear low-cut shoes for increased lateral movement and mobility. Many high-profile players have their names or numbers stitched on their shoes, while others write messages on their shoes with markers. Mark Jackson, formerly of the Denver Nuggets, tied his wedding ring into the laces of his shoes to remind him of his wife and family.

Now, where are the Wizards? Both parties lose in all of this. Michael gets tainted, and the Wizards lose their No. 1 draw. During his time at the Wizards, they became the most popular road draw and made $30 million, selling out every game. Michael Jordan, while playing for the Chicago Bulls in the 90s, led them to six NBA championship titles. 5-8-03. Bob Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, has asked basketball legend, Michael Jordan to join his Charlotte expansion franchise. The two friends met at a Chicago Bulls game twelve years ago. According to Johnson, who purchased the yet-to-be-named team for $300 million, absolutely I want him to be involved. He can play any role he wants to play, frankly. Jordan is being shopped around by his representatives to other franchises, including the Chicago Bulls, whom he played for 13 years and the Atlanta Hawks, who are for sale.

Extractions: With the pending trade of Chucky Atkins to the Washington Wizards, the Los Angeles Lakers are left with a single point guard on the roster, Sasha Vujacic. Though he eventually may develop into an every day player, Vujacic is simply not ready for a starting role in the NBA. The Lakers are said to have offered free agent point guard Antonio Daniels their full mid-level exception. LA seems a perfect fit for his skill set, but it would seem that the Portland Trail Blazers now have the inside track on Daniels. At issue is contract length. Los Angeles has apparently refused to give Daniels a deal longer than two years. At 30 years old, this is likely the biggest contract Daniels gets throughout the rest of his career and LA is only offering roughly $11 million. Portland seems willing to give him four or five years for an estimated total of $24-$32 million. With two young point guards already on the Blazer roster, the Lakers may make better basketball sense, but that's a lot of money to leave on the table. This is the second time this off-season that the Lakers have refused to give a player a three-year guaranteed deal. In the pending trade sending Atkins and Caron Butler to Washington for Kwame Brown and Laron Profit, Brown agreed to a three-year deal worth over $25 million, however, the third year is a team option. The original negotiation had Kwame reportedly looking for a three to four year deal starting at just over the mid-level. The Lakers were not willing to give out that long a contract but increased their offer in the first two-years from $11 million to $17 million.
