Extractions: by Roggie McFadden LOS ANGELES - Like many of his teammates, Lakers forward Rick Fox has had a bumpy time this season. Fox regularly scores only 5 to 8 points per game making observers question whether he will be able to keep up the 'Foxy Mystique' that made him such a powerful force during the Lakers' championship years. Rick Fox has been counted on to do 'the little things' for the Lakers in the past, but so far this year, he has simply done very little. His 3-point shooting is way off and he has committed many costly turnovers. Fox's crybaby antics on the court have also led to reduced 'Foxy Mystique.' In a pre-season game last October, the 'Mystique' took a nosedive when Rick Fox ambushed Kings' Doug Christie after Christie had nailed Fox with an uppercut in the first quarter. ESPN described the events: Fox threw a right-handed elbow at Christie, who had smothered Fox on defense. Fox was called for an offensive foul and then dropped the ball on Christie. Christie, who had fallen to the court, got back up and threw the ball back at Fox.

Account Manager Boston, MA (September 30, 2004) The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has waived forward Rick Fox, in order to facilitate his retirement from the NBA. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. "We were aware of Rick's medical situation when we made the trade," said Celtics Executive Director of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. "He has been a true professional and will always be a member of the Celtics family, especially considering this is where he started his career. We wish him well and are confident he will be successful in whatever he chooses to pursue next." A member of the Celtics for six seasons (1991-97), Fox enjoyed a solid NBA career, posting career averages of 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. The 13-year veteran has spent the last seven seasons with the Lakers claiming three NBA Championships. He returned to the Celtics this summer as part of a five-player trade with the Lakers on August 13. His finest year as a pro came in 1996-97 when he established career-bests in scoring (15.4 ppg), steals (2.20 spg, 4th in the NBA) and three-pointers made (101) and attempted (278).

It will be a compelling, high-stakes game between the keenest of rivals something we've come to expect . . . during football season. This is boys' basketball, though, and the Indians and Tigers will be facing off in a matchup that could have a major bearing on the Section 3-AAAA championship. Through Monday, North Allegheny, North Hills and Shaler Area were 9-3 in the section, tied for first with two games left. They and New Castle (8-4) had clinched the four available playoff berths. The three leaders had winnable games last night against teams below .500 in 3-AAAA: North Allegheny at Fox Chapel Area, North Hills at home against Butler Area, the Titans at Pine-Richland. If the tri-leaders held serve last night, all will play for at least a share of the crown Friday. But, at most, it would be a two-way share. Shaler appears to have an easy game ahead, at home against Fox Chapel (6-15, 3-9 through Monday). But not necessarily. The Titans won by only three at Fox Chapel on Jan. 11.

Attention: I Have Ceased To Care About Rick Pitino that I no longer care about Louisville basketball coach rick Pitino. Prostitution has come to fox. Of course, fox doesn t call it prostitution. http://joelavin.com/nomorepitino.html
Extractions: Attention: I Have Ceased to Care about Rick Pitino I would like to announce that I no longer care about Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino. For those who insist on e-mailing me about him, let me be perfectly clear. Stop. Sure, I haven't always been this indifferent. Several years ago, when he was coaching the Boston Celtics, I even cared enough to write some nasty reviews of his books, but that was only a brief moment of interest. Soon, I returned to my normal state of Pitino apathy. It has been years since I even watched a basketball game that was coached by him, yet about every month one of my Pitino articles shows up on a basketball message board. It doesn't help either that when you type "Rick Pitino lose" into Google, my site comes up first. (My site also shows up first when you search for "Nymphomaniacs British Columbia," but that's another story.) And so, for the past several years, I have been getting all sorts of crazy e-mails about Coach Pitino, like this recent missive from Redcardsfan: "You are an IDIOT and a stupid man. If your ever in Louisville look me up, I would love to beat your ass sometime. I hope you die and put your nine readers that you have out of their misery!!!"
