The Bored - Bird: NBA "a Black Man's Game" I don t see a problem though, the black guys got basketball, the white dudes gotHockey, craig ehlo greatest white baller ever(behind Bird of course) http://www.trickology.com/thebored/archive/index.php/t-4672.html
Extractions: "Well, I think so," said Bird, the Indiana Pacers' president of basketball operations. "You know, when I played, you had me and Kevin [McHale] and some others throughout the league. I think it's good for a fan base because, as we all know, the majority of the fans are white America. And if you just had a couple of white guys in there, you might get them a little excited. But it is a black man's game, and it will be forever. I mean, the greatest athletes in the world are African-American."
The Sporting News: Basketball Scrapbook - Michael Jordan craig ehlo Will go down in history as the sap who was trying to get a hand inJordan s face as he made The Shot, which eliminated the Cleveland Cavaliers http://www.sportingnews.com/archives/jordan/defenders.html
Extractions: Not long ago, as the legend of Michael Jordan was taking off and he was starting to amass scoring titles the way kids collect trading cards, there was a joke making the rounds of NBA cities. The only person, the punch line went, capable of holding him under 20 points was Dean Smith, his coach at North Carolina. For many rivals, defending Jordan was like preparing for a hurricane: Secure the valuables, take cover and pray the damage isn't too bad. Naturally, some handled the difficult assignment better than others. While no one could lay claim to being a Jordan-stopper, a select few were torched less frequently and even frustrated His Airness at times. Of course, for every player to give Jordan trouble, there were at least two poor saps who offered little resistance and were flattened like roadkill. THE TOP FIVE JOE DUMARS No one was capable of stopping Jordan one-on-one, but Dumars had more success than most because he focused on playing fundamental defense and wasn't intimidated. Jordan always mentioned Dumars when asked to name his toughest defenders, but the competition also brought out the best in Jordan at times. He scored 61 points in an overtime win against the Detroit Pistons in 1987 and added a 59-point effort in 1988.

The boys and girls high school stars Holt forms into teams as sports editor of Monmouth's Daily Review Atlas will hear their names announced by Joe Tait, Cleveland Cavaliers' broadcaster for the past 34 years. A Monmouth College grad, Tait shares the honor as dean of NBA broadcasters with Al McCoy of the Phoenix Suns. According to Holt, that makes Tait, "The most prestigious sports figure in the history of Monmouth College." To date, no one has disputed that statement and Holt says, Monmouth College president Dr. Richard Giese, a longtime friend of Tait's calls him "the Harry Caray of Ohio." The guy who's broadcast games in the NBA since Jabbar, through Bird, Magic and Jordan and into the LeBron James era is only too happy to lend his voice to Holt's eighth annual event. "I get back about once every four or five years for reunions and things," said Tait. "I've lectured to radio-TV and journalism classes.

Extractions: Michael Jordan, NBA Basketball Player A phenomenal athlete with a unique combination of grace, power, artistry and improvisational ability, Michael Jordan has single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. Despite not playing for three seasons from 1998-99 through 2000-01, Michael Jordan was still probably the most recognizable athlete in the world during that time. However, after assuming an ownership and team executive role with the Washington Wizards in 2000, he returned to play the game he loves as a Wizard upon signing a two-year contract on September 25, 2001. He is not only the top player of his era, but is quite possibly the best player ever to wear the uniform of an NBA team. A legend on the court, Jordan added to his mystique with a totally unexpected retirement just before the 1993-94 season. After a year spent playing minor league baseball, he authored yet another amazing chapter to his story by returning to the Chicago Bulls late in the 1994-95 campaign with his basketball skills intact. By the end of the 1997-98 season, he had won a record 10th scoring title and led the Bulls to their sixth NBA championship of the 1990s. A summary of Jordan's basketball career inevitably fails to do it justice. The 6-6 Brooklyn native attended high school in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he was cut from the basketball team as a sophomore. He spent his college career at North Carolina, playing for an NCAA Championship team as a freshman and hitting the game-winning shot in the title game. He was named College Player of the Year by The Sporting News in both 1983 and 1984 and won the Naismith and Wooden Awards in 1984. After his junior year he was chosen with the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.
