Haverford Home Page Haverford Honors Three Men's Basketball Legends At halftime of Saturday's men's basketball game versus Gettysburg, Haverford College honored three men who played significant roles in the history of Fords basketball. The honorees were Ernie Prudente and Tony Zanin - the two winningest coaches in Haverford men's basketball history - and Sol Tollin '51 - the leading scorer of his era. Zanin recorded 114 wins as men's basketball coach from 1969 to 1982, while Prudente, who guided the Fords from 1957 to 1968, amassed 108 wins during his tenure at Haverford. Sol Tollin was a prolific scorer and shooting guard during his years at Haverford. Despite graduating more than 50 years ago, Tollin still ranks third all-time in scoring average (17.7 ppg) and 13th all-time in career points (887) at Haverford. Athletic director Greg Kannerstein presented these three men with commemorative plaques in recognition of their fine achievements at Haverford and for their overall contributions to men's basketball.
