Serves him right for passing Mike Schmidt on the all-time homer list. Other entries: I II III IV , and V Comments Number 5 (Boone) is just so quaint now: "This may force the Yankees to play Enrique Wilson or Miguel Cairo at third or, worse yet, actually give the job to erstwhile footballer Drew Henson." Ha ha ha. I love baseball injuries. The Angels in the late '70s and early '80s had some good ones, including Bobby Grich's back (moving an air conditioner shortly after signing a huge contract) and some part of Gary Pettis (strained while adjusting a seat belt). Oh, and apparently he is a moron on top of it. Like father, like son, I always say. Posted on Jan 28, 2004 at 12:33 AM
Baseball, Camden, And The Swartz Boys All of the Swartz boys grew up loving baseball. Two of my uncles, Dutch and Pud, Larnie Cassidy, Soapy Swartz (my dad), Dickie weiss, walt Heartling, http://www.eticomm.net/~kelta/baseball.html
Extractions: When my dad was just a kid, his father worked in Philadelphia stitching baseballs for the A.J. Reach Company. My dad remembers that Grandpop used to walk home across the bridge from Phillie to Camden in the afternoon with a sack full of work to do while caring for his six boys. All of the Swartz boys grew up loving baseball. Two of my uncles, Dutch and Pud, even played semi-pro baseball in Camden, on the Defiance Athletic Club . The story goes that Connie Mack invited Dutch to pitch for a team in the International League, but he declined because he wouldn't earn as much as he did in semi-pro. One of the neighborhood boys, Fred Heimach , did go on to play in the majors. That said, I grew up in a baseball family. The Phillies are the home team, but I admit that Johnny Bench will always be my favorite player. And I have yet to forgive the Dodgers for deserting me and moving to California when I was a kid.

I am using some info from another source, but I would like to add a few categories. Thanks. Where did you find that info? cubbieinexile 02-08-2002, 08:04 PM In the latest edition of Total Baseball they have the yearly splits for most modern day players. In it they state that Walt Weiss hit .281 in 217 ab at home that year. That comes out to 61 hits. Or you can do it the hard way and count the hits manually on Retrosheet.org 02-09-2002, 11:32 AM

Walt Weiss Wondering Why Nobody Ever Told Him About Steroids BOULDER, COWalt weiss, former teammate of Jose Canseco and Mark it was alldone behind my back, said weiss, who retired from baseball in 2000. http://www.thebrushback.com/Archives/waltweis_full.htm
Extractions: 60 Minutes While McGwire, Canseco, Ivan Rodriguez, and Rafael Palmeiro are enjoying time in the spotlight, Weiss is living in relative obscurity with his wife and 3 children in Colorado. What pains Weiss most is that Canseco shared his secret with so many teammates but left him out of the loop. LaRussa also noted that steroids are illegal, and that Weiss should be proud of never having tried them. The current media firestorm over the steroid allegations has left Weiss wondering what his career would have been like had he been exposed to the drugs. The former shortstop often fantasizes about being a bulked-up Neanderthal with an over-sized head and shrunken testicles. But sadly, that dream will never come true.
