Extractions: After anxiously waiting for the past six months another baseball season is about to begin. I have been in Florida preparing myself for the next five or six months. I came into camp competing for a spot in triple A, and although I did not make the club I was pleased with my performance and feel very confident entering the season. I will be playing for the New Haven Ravens in the Eastern League. The team will have the same manager I had in the Florida State League, where I had my best year to date. He is a very energetic, hardworking, players coach, who everyone respects and plays hard for. We have a very strong outfield made up of five players; John-Ford Griffin, Gabe Gross, Alexis Rios, Justin Singleton, and myself. I expect we will all contribute to the success of this team and I am excited to start running down long fly balls with them. I am going to try and take what I have been working on in spring training and carry it over to the season. I am trying to be the best leadoff hitter I can, which means I have to put the ball in play and take walks. The first I did very well this spring, but I need to make a conscious effort to make the pitcher throw good pitches and draw walks. This is especially true in the Blue Jays organization, which emphasizes on base percentage as a key statistic.
