Extractions: Greg Maddux and Wade Miller Pedro Martinez Roger Clemens (who will not get two starts); what is going on with the Rocket? He was left without his 300th win yet again. Could it be a Red Sox curse? The Yankees bullpen is certainly not helping his cause. His next start is Friday the 13th - probably not a good omen - and against Matt Morris which is even a worse omen.

Extractions: At the beginning of the season, pitcher Bret Prinz went down with a groin injury, which started a string of minor-league call-ups in the process. More injuries occurred and more Sidewinders came up. Soon, Bob Brenly's Boys were beginning to look like Bob Brenly's MASH 4077th Unit; somewhat reminiscent of 2001. Call it Diamondbacks Deja Vu and if this is the way it's looking, the team could be playing in the Fall Classic again. Only time will tell...

Why I Like Baseball, By Cecilia Tan Cecilia Tan s baseball journal. oops, the Padres scored three in the top ofthe 12th innings as the latest bullpen darling for the Yankees, bret prinz, http://www.ceciliatan.com/Entry183.html
Extractions: June 13 2004: Beyond Winning It is with gleeGLEE I tell youthat I have followed the New York Yankees over the past month. Anyone who tells you they don't enjoy come-from-behind wins is either lying, or nuts, and in my case, the come-from-behind ("CFB") is my favorite type of game. Why do I like it so much? Does there have to be a reason? Well, all right, I will theorize. Second, we, as fans, like to see our guys exercise their skills. Whether we win or not, we like to see our team play well. Last year, the Yankees went on a run where they were scoring early and often, putting up runs in the first inning like they expected every game to be called by rain in the sixth. After Jeter went down, they were pummelling other teams into submission, letting their starters cruise to some ridiculous number of wins in a row20? 21? something like that until Jeff Weaver finally laid an egg, as I recall. It was nice, and fun, but I was actually on the verge of getting a little bit bored. (And if I was tired of it, imagine how Red Sox fans felt about it...)

So expect another 100-plus-win season and October baseball in the Bronx, as they are the preseason favorite to win their first World Series in five seasons. Frank Franklin Ii / AP Randy Johnson instantly strengthens the Yankees' rotation.
TOUT WARS: Battle Of The Experts 010430 The top analysts and writers in the fantasy baseball industry compete in this He won an aggressive eightteam bidding war for bret prinz this weekend. http://www.toutwars.com/insight/010430.shtml
Extractions: formerly known as Prinz by Thomas J. McFeeley and David J. Lopez Be careful what you wish for. You just may get it. Surely, your mother told you that, and you rolled your eyes. If only she told you that your fantasy baseball season could hinge on her sage advice, you might have taken notes. Ask Alex Patton. He won an aggressive eight-team bidding war for Bret Prinz this weekend. With military precision, Patton fired off his $25 bid just minutes before the weekly free agent deadline, topping at least a half-dozen others. So what does he have planned for the maybe-temporary-D'backs-closer? "Anyone actually *want* Prinz?," Patton wrote in a league-wide e-mail. "He's yours for some SB." There were no immediate takers at least Patton wouldn't tell us if there were. But almost immediately after Prinz was won, his status as closer seemed uncertain. In Sunday night's game, Byung-Hyun Kim was in line for a save, after pitching a crisp 8th inning against Atlanta. But after getting an extra insurance run and a four-run non-save situation for a new pitcher Bob Brenly called on Kim to finish the game. Of course, we know Kim ran into trouble. Brenly then asked, drumroll please, Troy Brohawn to finish the game, and get the save.
