Baseball Fever - Should Phillie Trade Travis Lee? baseball Fever is a baseball discussion forum made for serious baseball fans, historians, researchers and other baseball nuts. http://baseball-fever.com/archive/index.php/t-3168.html
Extractions: http://www.oregonbaseballcampaign.com Kroxquo 04-08-2002, 08:37 PM The question is if he is that much of a bust what would they get for him? I don't think he is a s bad as you seem to think he is. Twenty homers and 90 RBI's last year is not bad, and a scout in SI's baseball preview said that he is improving. .136 after one week is nothing to panic about yet. If he had a .136 week in July, most people would not notice. Let's wait and see on Travis. cubbieinexile 04-09-2002, 11:55 PM Travis Lee is a bust, the Phillies should look to get rid of him. He does have some value because he still has less than 6 years of service time. I believe he will be eligible for free agency after the 2003 season. This year he is making only 3 million dollars which is relatively cheap for a first basemen. I think by the time the trading deadline aproaches several teams are going to need a solution for first base. And a cheap short term solution like Travis Lee certainly does have some value. I think by the time the deadline aproaches Atlanta will have some interest in him. Possibly Oaklnad if Pena flops. Montreal, Anaheim, the Mets, Pittsburgh, Arizona (who knows he could get sent back), and maybe San Fran or LA. I'm not saying they would make the trade but I think these are the teams who are probably going to need a first basemen come the deadline if they are in the thick of it.
Baseball Fever - Travis Lee's Defense Of Scott Rolen baseball Fever is a baseball discussion forum made for serious baseball fans, historians, researchers and other baseball nuts. http://baseball-fever.com/archive/index.php/t-3716.html
Extractions: Baseball Fever National League Philadelphia Phillies PDA View Full Version : Travis Lee's Defense of Scott Rolen donzblock 08-20-2002, 08:50 AM On Sunday, "Double Bobblehead Day," Scott Rolen, with his customary intelligence, chose to sit out a game before 58,000 people but appear on the field prior to the game to congratulate Harry Kalas. The fans responded with loud booing that Travis Lee, a sensitive soul, thought was embarrassing and tasteless. Was Lee correct, and should Rolen have made an appearance? 08-20-2002, 09:02 AM First off, Rolen would have been booed no matter what he did. The fans hate him. Period. I think Rolen should have played the game. He needs to grow up. I think it was "safer" for him to play on Sunday than it was on the previous two games of the series; if they hadn't thrown the batteries by Sunday, they probably weren't going to. So yes, Rolen should have played the game AND congratulated Kalas.

Extractions: Main February 14, 2004 How About Another First Baseman? It looks like the Yankees are trying to sign Travis Lee . I would take Lee in a second over Tony Clark. However, first base is not the problem. The problem is the team has no infield defense. The need to find a glove wizard who can play 2nd or short to back up the rangeless duo in the middle. Lee is not the answer to the Yankees defensive problems. Posted by David Pinto at 11:41 AM Free Agents TrackBack (0) Comments It looks like the Yankees are trying to find that great defensive guy at SS. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1735039 But they want to move him to 3rd and keep Jeter at SS? Posted by: Eddie at February 14, 2004 12:08 PM I thought the Cardinals either signed Lee, or were considering him to replace Timo Perez (who replaced Lee in Tampa), giving the Cards 3/4ths of the 2000 Phillies infield, missing just Deli Relaford at short. Posted by: Michael at February 14, 2004 12:55 PM Just one little point of contention. There is a significant in the relative range of Jeter and Soriano. Soriano has more range than Jeter. He's not great but he's not as bad. Posted by: steve at February 14, 2004 02:40 PM
