Drew is considering either returning to Florida State in time for the 2005 season or following in his older brother J.D.'s footsteps and beginning his career in an independent league, the source said. Had Drew attended class Tuesday, the Diamondbacks would have lost the right to sign him. Arizona has offered Drew a four-year major league contract that would include a team record bonus for a draft pick (more than $3 million) and the potential to make more than $7 million. The Drew camp claims the Diamondbacks agreed at the time of the draft that Drew was worth $8 million to $10 millionroughly the same $9.5 million deal that the Rangers' Mark Teixeira, who was also a client of agent Scott Boras, received in 2001. The team denies making any such assurances.

THE DREW BROTHERS FROM HAHIRA By Rick Lawes, baseball Weekly June 3 jd is selected by Philadelphia with the As jd drew was making last year s College World Series his personal http://www.hahira.ga.us/drew.html
Extractions: T he Drew Brothers From Hahira Hahira is home to the Drew brothers, J.D., Tim and Stephen. On Tuesday June 3, 1997 The Philadelphia Phillies used the second pick on J.D. and moments later the Cleveland Indians selected Tim, becoming the first brothers in history selected in the first round of baseball's amateur draft. Stephen also has the Drew baseball talent. J.D. plays centerfield at Florida State University and has set several records in his baseball career. He began to receive national attention beating Oklahoma with a ninth-inning home run in the College World Series, and two days later hit a record three home runs against Southern California. During the 1997 season J.D. hit .455 and became the first collegiate baseball player to hit 30 or more homeruns (31) and steal more than 30 bases in a season(32). Tim a 6' 2" right handed pitcher plays for the Lowndes County High Vikings. He gained national attention as one of the top high school players last summer while touring with the U.S. Junior Olympic team. He starred on that team as a pitcher and hitter and began to garner attention from scouts. His senior season, he was 4-2 with a 0.43 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. He allowed 14 hits in 32 innings, walking 11 and striking out 62. His fastball was clocked at 95 miles per hour at Turner field in a recent tryout for the Atlanta Braves. Hahira's citizens are proud of the accomplishments of the Drew brothers and their hard working family's contribution to our community and nation. They are an example of the all American family that make our country great.

Extractions: Stephen Drew signs with Florida State By CHRISTIAN MALONE Hahira - Nov. 16, 2000 Like his brothers, Stephen Drew loves God, baseball, and fishing (God always first and foremost). He wears No. 7, and bats left-handed. And like oldest brother J.D., Stephen will be a Seminole. Drew, Lowndes' standout shortstop, has officially committed to play baseball at Florida State. Next year, he will join one of the nation's elite college baseball programs. It had been speculated since Drew first burst on the scene for Lowndes in 1999, if not sooner, that he would one day be a Seminole. It seemed natural that he'd follow in the footsteps of J.D., one of the finest players in Seminole (and arguably college baseball) history. "J.D. went to college there, and I knew how the program was, so I decided to go there," Drew said. "It's exciting for our family, because J.D. went there, Tim would've gone there but instead he went into the draft, and now I'm going there." But that wasn't the main reason Drew chose Florida State. "I'm impressed with the baseball program they have at Florida State," Drew said. "They have an excellent program, a good coaching staff, and I feel that's the place I want to play in college." Another thing that excites Drew is the opportunity to play shortstop, the position he's played for years. And maybe start as a freshman, since Florida State's current shortstop, Brett Groves, is a senior. "The only position
