Extractions: Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 Dennis Green Cade McNown The Colts' defense Cory Raymer Chuck Smith ProFootballWeekly.com asks contributing editor Joel Buchsbaum his views on the hot topics around the NFL. Well, after jumping out to a 3-0 start, the Vikings have given Green a three-year contract extension worth $9 million, which means Green is under contract through the 2004 season. "Im convinced that Dennis is the best man in the NFL," said Vikings owner Red McCombs. "I say this because of his great skills as a coach and an administrator." PFW: What has Dennis Green done to deserve this contract extension? Buchsbaum: Hes 3-0. He took a big gamble on Daunte Culpepper, which is paying off big time. And hes the only guy who can coach a lot of players on that team. I dont think anyone else could get as much out, say, a Randy Moss, or someone like that." PFW: Where does Green rank among current head coaches? Buchsbaum: Hes one of the better coaches in the league, no question about it. Look at his track record. But the one thing that he has not done is he has not been a successful playoff coach."

Extractions: Friday, June 14, 2002 Cade McNown Terance Mathis ProFootballWeekly.com asks personnel expert Joel Buchsbaum for his thoughts on the hottest topics in football. The San Francisco 49ers traded a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2003 for Miami QB Cade McNown. After being drafted 12 th overall in the 1999 draft by the Bears, McNown was booed by Chicago fans during two tumultuous seasons, and he never got off the bench last season with the Dolphins. San Francisco general manager Terry Donahue recruited McNown to UCLA in the final years of his two decades as the Bruins' coach. Donahue left UCLA after McNown's freshman season. The team wants to see if McNown can be effective in the 49ers' West Coast offense. McNown is a player who could be much better than he is. He is not a great physical talent, but he is a good The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a one-year contract with Terance Mathis, a 12-year veteran who led the Atlanta Falcons in receiving last season. The Steelers have said they wanted a veteran receiver to add depth and to mentor their younger receivers, including Plaxico Burress, Troy Edwards and second-round draft pick Antwaan Randle El, who will move to receiver after playing quarterback at Indiana. Football Team In Need Of New Quarterback, Strong Leader The fact of the matter is that UCLA football does not lack talent, it simply needs to find a cade mcnown quarterbacked the team, not just the offense. http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/db/issues/99/10.05/sports.denicke.html
Extractions: COLUMN: Bruins should look to Freddie Mitchell to lead squad to victory By Dave Denicke As the UCLA football season progresses, it becomes more and more obvious that this is not the same UCLA team that swept the Pac-10 conference slate last year. Losing Cade McNown has resulted in a Bruin squad that is unsure of itself and of McNown's replacement. Head coach Bob Toledo has offered up Cory Paus and Drew Bennett, who have tried hard to get things going, but have not grabbed the reins of the Bruin offense to lead the team. When you face a question mark, sometimes the best replacement is an exclamation point. Enter Freddie Mitchell, starting quarterback. Sure, Mitchell is a wide receiver. And yes, he's 5-foot-11 on a good day and 178 pounds when sopping wet - not exactly the prototype for a player who is supposed to withstand bone-crunching tackles. But before you groan at this seemingly idiotic idea, consider the Bruin offense if Mitchell ran the option. In the backfield, the Bruins sport a trio of tremendous tailbacks, as well as capable fullbacks. They have rotated four tight ends in and out of the lineup, all of whom are 6-foot-3 or taller. Using a double tight-end formation and having two or possibly three runners in the backfield would give the Bruins more options than a Sizzler salad bar.

CADE MCNOWN--QB OF THE FUTURE - Briefme.com In Andrew Mason s article at www.nfl.com, he claims that cade mcnown s best quality as a Top » Sports football cade mcnownQB OF THE FUTURE http://briefme.com/archive/article/31223
Extractions: Briefme.com , News, Reviews, Discussions, Review, Ratings Site: http://www.nfl.com/Bears/news/000908mcnown.html In Andrew Mason's article at www.nfl.com, he claims that Cade McNown's best quality as a quarterback is calmness. McNown and his Bears lost week 1 to the Vikings (30-27), but he put up a tremendous effort. He led a strong offense through a tough game, and they almost pulled it out in the end. In Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McNown did not have such a good game, with the Bears being shut out 47-0. In the end, though, Mason makes the case that this UCLA alum is going to prove to be one of the best QBs in the NFL. Sun, 10 Sep 2000 10:38:27 -0700 Submitted by: Brad Hartman Links to Other Sites
