"I'm away at the moment and I haven't spoken to my agent, but it all sounds like paper talk to me," he said. After McKenzie's goals - five of which came in the final 11 games - had helped Norwich pull clear of the relegation zone going into the final day of the season, their fate was sealed following their 6-0 thrashing at Fulham. The Norwich manager Nigel Worthington has already insisted that none of his key men - including the England squad goalkeeper Robert Green, midfielder Damien Francis and striker Dean Ashton - is for sale as the Norfolk club now prepare for life in the Coca-Cola Championship and seek to return to the top flight at the first time of asking. "It's been pretty tough," McKenzie told the Norwich Evening News. "We need to pick ourselves up. But everyone is different individually with the way they deal with these things."

Extractions: Giants-Jets By DAVID PORTER Associated Press Writer ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - When the Jets and Giants line up against each other during Saturday's joint practice, Kareem McKenzie will see a lot of familiar faces across the line of scrimmage. Advertisement The Giants signed the hulking offensive tackle as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason after he had spent the previous four years helping the Jets' running attack become one of the most potent in the National Football League. Now, the Giants hope he can be the bulwark on an offensive line that had its share of difficulties moving the ball at key times in 2004. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 327 pounds, McKenzie has won raves during training camp for his strength and quickness. At least one Giants player was already sold on McKenzie before the Penn State graduate ever put on the blue and white. ``I'll never forget a few offseasons ago when I broke my toe and Keith Washington had to start,'' said defensive end Michael Strahan, who goes head-to-head with McKenzie at practice every day. ``I told him, `He's the strongest guy you're going to have to face.' ``After the game Keith looked at me and said, `That's the strongest man I've ever faced and I think he just got me cut.' So I always knew he could play, and it's good to have him on our side now.''

In today's world of convenience and consumerism, where pink besuited clones are whisked seamlessly from ivory tower to leafy suburbia, man is stripped of his warrior roots, emasculated by protocol and civilisation, whiling away his physical prime in a cosy oasis where courage and heart are vestigial qualities, a throw back to a bygone age. A few, a very few, chose a different path. In the icy gloom of windswept nights, they gather, pitting themselves against one another in a raw physical contest where hearts defeat head, where bravery belittles brawn. They take the field in the knowledge that there is no hiding place, no simple option, no technical solution. They have volunteered for the ultimate team game, the ultimate examination of self.

Extractions: Player Squads The 1960-61 season saw the return to Recreation Park of Johnny Strachan after a long spell with Fraserburgh. Peter Davidson was also recruited. Peter’s father Joe had been in Peterhead’s first ever-Highland League team and scored the club's first league goal in a 3-1 home defeat against Inverness Citadel. The irony of football saw Peterhead win the return game in Inverness the following week by a 2-1 score. Davie "Dites" Davidson and Patty Duncan Snr scoring the goals. "Dites" was groundsman at the 'Rec for a spell in the 80s. His son Davy was a prominent Hearts player in the Fifties. Jacky Adams from the local Caley was a further addition to the squad. The Highland League season of 61-62 saw a large influx of players from out with the town. Goalkeepers Jim Davidson from Oldmeldrum and Jim Tawse from the Aberdeen junior club Balgownie. Bob Anderson a giant centre half from Huntly and Johnny Carrol from the same club. Francis "Matches" Chalmers also joined the club around this time. He was originally a Peterhead boy from Hope Street where his well-known sporting family had lived. Francis's older brother Jockie played for Peterhead before immigrating to Bulawayo. Francis was also brother in law to Bob Peacock a Peterhead player in the late 40s. George Sang a free transfer from Aberdeen, Aberdeen Junior Gordon Cumming, Freddie Smith former Aberdeen and Hull City player was another addition. Fred was a member of the Fraserburgh team who so famously beat Dundee in 1958-59 Scottish Cup. Other new players were Colin Middler Ellon and Wattie Simpson from Longside.

Extractions: Player Squads The ironic twist in the tale, of the whole sorry affair was that a few months later, in December 1990 manager Jim Hamilton was replaced by George Adams. By the following 90-91 season more new players had joined the club, Graham Tosh, Paul McKenzie, Dave Moreland, and Stuart McIntosh. The League form was extremely disappointing and we plummeted from 3rd to 8th. The team were also knocked out at the first stage of all Cup competitions except in the Aberdeenshire cup when we were beaten 1-0 at home to Keith in the second round. Surprisingly, George Adams quite suddenly left the club and was replaced by his assistant and former player Jim Guyan. The Scottish cup was a disappointment. When after losing a late equalising goal to Cowdenbeath at home, we lost the replay 6-1. The team played most of the second half a man short, Dave Moreland having been sent off. The same player later received a second red card whilst off the field. Dave was now on borrowed time under Mr Adams and would eventually leave the club, to be transferred to Cove Rangers who were then under our future manager Dave Watson. There is a cryptic irony somewhere in that circumstance. Paul McKenzie scored our consolation goal at Cowdenbeath. The new batch of players for the next season were Martin Dunbar, Grant Coull, David Keith, Tommy Madden, Steve Gerrard, John McGachie, Alan Lyons, and Mark Watson, The team lost in the early rounds of both the League and Aberdeenshire Cups. Ian Wilson, the former Leicester City, Everton and Scotland player was signed later in the season.

Formed in 1871 as a junior club and as a senior club in 1873, it is headquartered at Windy Hill Oval in the Melbourne suburb of Essendon , but plays its home matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Telstra Dome It is one of the richest, most popular, and most successful clubs in the League, with a new generation of fans springing up due to their recent success and the presence of charismatic players such as forward Matthew Lloyd and captain James Hird . It is coached by Kevin Sheedy , a famously crafty coach who in latter years has developed a persona as football's eccentric philosopher. The club has worn a black guernsey with red sash as its uniform since 1873. Essendon was already a successful club in the VFA before the VFL was formed in . The club was part of many innovations that shaped the modern game, as well as being the first to achieve several milestones. Essendon was involved in the first match where the goal umpires used white flags to signal scores, they were the first team to wear white shorts in away matches, and they were involved in the first match played on what would be considered by modern standards to be a full sized field. Essendon was also the first side to record ten goals in a single senior match, and one of its players
