Extractions: Ah, you know, mixed emotions. Denver's a great place where people love football, and it's a team that's got a chance to win a championship. So that's great. But, sure, I thought I had a unique opportunity to play my whole career in one spot, and that's one thing I wish could change about this league. Free agency is a beautiful thing for players, but it's hard for fans to have loyalty for teams when the rosters are constantly overhauled.

Bill Lynch occupies one of the most important roles within the program. As the team's director of football operations, Lynch serves as head coach Bobby Ross' "Military Coordinator." While all teams have an offensive and defensive coordinator, the uniqueness of the cadet-athlete experience at West Point requires additional coordination in areas such as summer military training, Army Physical Fitness Tests and academic scheduling. Advertisement The league fined Lynch $75,000 for the helmet-to-helmet hit on the Colts tight end. Along with the fine, NFL disciplinarian Gene Washington sent a letter reprimanding Lynch for the hit and informing him that officials for the playoff rematch at Indianapolis on Jan. 9 have been alerted to keep an eye on Lynch and to eject him if warranted. Lynch's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, responded with a letter to the NFL appealing the fine and demanding that language threatening ejection be rescinded. "We fear that the integrity of this contest will be impacted adversely here by the influence on the impartiality of the officiating crew," Steinberg wrote in a letter first obtained by

Scott Connot June 9, 2005 By Neil Reynolds NFL Europe Growing up in the tiny midwestern town of Spencer, Nebraska, a young Scott Connot would sit in front of his television and watch games from around the NFL each Sunday. He would cheer along with the rest of America when big plays were made, but what really excited him and made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up were the bone-jarring hits delivered by San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott. Fast forward to his college years at South Dakota State and you would find Connot spending his Sundays watching Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety John Lynch leave his hard-hitting mark on the rest of the NFL.
