Joseph, a 30-year-old native of New Iberia, Louisiana, began the year as the back-up to Dan Crowley, but made the most of his opportunity as No. 1 Renegades pivot after Crowley's release. In his first CFL start, July 10 at Frank Clair Stadium against the Toronto Argonauts, Joseph completed 20 of 30 passes for a team-record 332 yards, threw one touchdown pass on a spectacular 50-yard flea-flicker to Demetris Bendross, and scored two rushing touchdowns of his own, leading the Renegades to a 34-32 victory.
